Novel Bioactive Multifunctional Polyphenols: A Chemo‐Enzymatic Approach

One‐step synthesis of complex alkyl oxystilbenin glucosides (6‐47% yield) in alcoholic medium. Switching to ter‐BuOH as solvent afforded δ‐Viniferin diglucoside, with high selectivity and high yield (> 90%), that can be upgraded by enzymatic esterification to alkyl δ‐Viniferin diglucosides.

Structure of the c10 Ring of the Yeast Mitochondrial ATP Synthase in the Open Conformation

The proton pore of the F1Fo ATP synthase consists of a ring of c subunits, which rotates, driven by downhill proton diffusion across the membrane. An essential carboxylate side chain in each subunit provides a proton-binding site.

Fluorescence Properties and Mg2+ Selectivity of Aryl‐Alkynyl Derivatives of the o‐Aminophenoltriacetate (APTRA) Ligand

It is a challenge to improve the selectivity of high‐denticity ligands for Mg2+ over Ca2+. We show that in aryl‐alkynyl derivatives of APTRA, electron‐withdrawing substituents lower the binding affinity for Ca2+ more than Mg2+, making the ligand more selective for Mg2+.
