تم تصنيع فئة جديدة من مثبطات التآكل، وهي حمض البولي إيثيلين إيمين ميثيلين الفوسفونيك (PEIMPA)، وتم التحقيق في تأثيره المثبط على تآكل الفولاذ C38 في 1 M HCl عند 30 درجة مئوية من خلال تقنيات مراقبة التآكل المختلفة مثل قياسات فقدان الوزن، والاستقطاب الديناميكي، ومقاومة الاستقطاب الخطي (Rp)، وتحليل السطح (SEM و EDX) والتي تستخدم لوصف سطح الفولاذ.
