Impact of experimental conditions on material response during forming of steel in semi-solid state [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Semi-solid forming is an effective near-net-shape forming process to produce components with complex geometry and in fewer forming steps. It benefits from the complex thixotropic behaviour of semi-solids.

Effect of particle size on the surface properties and morphology of ground flax [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Flax fibers were ground with a ball-mill and four fractions with different size ranges were collected by sieving. These were tested for water sorption, degree of polymerization (DP), copper number, hydroxyl number and analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD),

Corrosion of Carbon Steel in Artificial Geothermal Brine: Influence of Carbon Dioxide at 70 °C and 150 °C [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This study focuses on the corrosion mechanism of carbon steel exposed to an artificial geothermal brine influenced by carbon dioxide (CO2) gas. The tested brine simulates a geothermal source in Sibayak, Indonesia, containing 1500 mg/L of Cl−, 20 mg/L of ...

Structural and mechanical properties of radiofrequency N2/H2cold plasma-nitrided C38 carbon steel [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal Applied Physics, 2011
C38 carbon steel has been nitrided by radiofrequency cold plasma discharge with the aim to study the effect of gas composition on structural and mechanical properties of nitrided substrates. The plasma nitriding was carried out on unheated substrates, using two different gas mixtures (75% N 2 /25% H 2 and 25% N 2 /75% H 2 ) for 8 h of plasma treatment.
