Research of boride layers growth kinetics on C45 carbon steel

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2012
This study reports an evaluation of borides formed on C45 steel. Pack boronizing has been carried out in temperature range 870 – 970 °C with durations 4 – 8 h. Average thickness of boride layers ranges from 60, 6 to 181, 2 µm. Through application of basic laws of diffusion, values of frequency factor and activation energy have been determined and ...

Thermal Response of C45 Steel in High and Very High Cycle Fatigue

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2015
AbstractHigh and very high cycle fatigue regimes are rapidly reached using an ultrasonic fatigue machine working at 20kHz. For instance, a fatigue test up to 109 cycles lasts 14hours at 20kHz while it lasts 100 days at 100Hz. The heating of specimen can reach several tens of degrees at 20kHz fatigue tests.

Influence of a New Tap Drill Geometry on C45 (1.0503) Steel Processing

open access: yesTehnicki vjesnik - Technical Gazette, 2019
The article presents the research of a cutting tap that has a geometry that extends the cutting tool's life by reducing chipping when the tap reverses while still engaged in cutting a thread. It relates to the improvement of a spiral tap which discharges chips toward a shank via a helical flute. The article contains details about the tap geometries and
