Enhancing the hemocompatibility of polyethersulfone (PES) hemodialysis membranes using synthesized pseudo zwittronic polymers with various orientations

open access: yesResults in Surfaces and Interfaces, 2023
The incompatibility of membrane materials with blood in the dialysis process has resulted in extensive number of side effects as well as undesired mortality rates for end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients.

Recent Advances in Top‐Down Proteomics for Single‐Cell Research

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Individual cells have distinctive molecular characteristics, including biologically relevant proteoforms. Although single‐cell (SC) molecular omics offer unprecedented insights into cellular heterogeneity and function, the characterization of proteoforms in SCs remains an uncharted territory.

LGR5, a novel functional glioma stem cell marker, promotes EMT by activating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway and predicts poor survival of glioma patients

open access: yesJournal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research, 2018
Background Tumor recurrence, the chief reason for poor prognosis of glioma, is largely attributed to glioma stem cells (GSCs) and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). However, the mechanisms among them remain unknown.

Japanese Women's Attitudes Toward Learning Languages Other Than English in the Era of Global English

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study on female Japanese learners of the Korean language is situated in the centuries‐long anti‐Korean sentiments in Japan, the global popularity of the Korean Wave, particularly among women, and the essentialized image of socially marginalized young Japanese women who study English with romantic desires for Western men.

Inhibition of Wnt/β‐catenin signaling upregulates Nav1.5 channels in Brugada syndrome iPSC‐derived cardiomyocytes

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2023
The voltage‐gated Nav1.5 channels mediate the fast Na+ current (INa) in cardiomyocytes initiating action potentials and cardiac contraction. Downregulation of INa, as occurs in Brugada syndrome (BrS), causes ventricular arrhythmias.

Evaluation of ANFIS Predictive Ability Using Computed Sediment from Gullies and Dam

open access: yesJournal of Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences, 2023
The study proposed an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference Systems (ANFIS) model capable of predicting sediment deposited in a dam and sediment loss-in-transit (SLIT) using the potential of a formulated mathematical relation.

Human‐derived cardiac‐neural microtissues reveal catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia is also a disease of the sympathetic neuron

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Schematic diagram illustrating the proposed pathway in which regulatory defects might occur in sympathetic neurons derived from hiPSC in catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT). Specifically, enhanced calcium transients appeared to derive from three sources: enhanced membrane excitability (due to loss of ...

Convergent targeting of FUNDC1‐dependent mitophagy sensitises and overcomes resistance to EGFR inhibition

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
Nitidine synergises with osimertinib in EGFR‐mutant NSCLC. Nitidine and osimertinib converge on HIF‐1α/FUNDC1‐mediated mitophagy. ABCB6 is required for the nitidine‐associated HIF‐1α/FUNDC1 response. Adaptive FUNDC1 downregulation sensitises osimertinib‐resistant cells to nitidine monotherapy.
