Elucidation of the preferred routes of C8-vinyl reduction in chlorophyll and bacteriochlorophyll biosynthesis [PDF]
Most of the chlorophylls and bacteriochlorophylls utilized for light harvesting by phototrophic organisms carry an ethyl group at the C8 position of the molecule, the product of a C8-vinyl reductase acting on a chlorophyll/bacteriochlorophyll ...

Synthesis of partially O-acetylated N-acetylneuraminic acid using regioselective silyl exchange technology. [PDF]
Postglycosylation acetylation of sialic acid imparts unique roles to sialoglycoconjugates in mammalian immune response making structural and functional understanding of these analogues important.

Occurrence of an incomplete C8 molecule in homozygous C8 deficiency in man. [PDF]
Sera from unrelated individuals with recurrent Neisserial infections lacked C8 hemolytic activity, but contained a protein that is antigenically related to C8. Immunochemical analysis revealed complete identity of the C8-related protein of all three sera and a marked antigenic deficiency compared with normal C8. The C8-related protein was isolated from

Autoinducers AI-1 and AI-2 play an important role in bacterial quorum sensing (QS), a form of chemical communication between bacteria. The autoinducer N-octanoyl-L-Homoserinehomoserine lactone (C8-HSL) serves as a major inter- and intraspecies ...

Two types of dysfunctional eighth component of complement (C8) molecules in C8 deficiency in man. Reconstitution of normal C8 from the mixture of two abnormal C8 molecules. [PDF]
Restoration of hemolytic activity was examined in sera from seven unrelated eighth component of complement (C8)-deficient subjects. The sera fell into two groups, depending on whether hemolytic activity was restored by the addition of the beta-chain (group 1) or the alpha-gamma-subunit (group 2) purified from normal human C8.

[μ-3,3′-Bis(trihydroboryl)[3]ferrocenophane]bis(chloridozirconocene) [PDF]
The title compound, [FeZr2(C5H5)4Cl2(C13H18B2)], is a heteronuclear complex that consists of a [3]ferrocenophane moiety substituted at each cyclopentadienyl (Cp) ring by a BH3 group; the BH3 group is bonded via two H atoms to the Zr atom of the ...

4,4´-(Hexane-1,6-diyldioxy)dianiline [PDF]
The complete molecule of the title compound, C18H24N2O2, is generated by a crystallographic inversion centre. The torsion angles in the hexamethylene chain are consistent with an antiperiplanar conformation, whereas the conformation of the O—CH2—CH2 ...
