CA 125 in gynecologic practice

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1986
Serum CA 125 levels were determined in 64 women with benign ovarian lesions, 92 women with uterine fundal lesions, and six patients who had negative second-look laparotomy for epithelial ovarian carcinoma. Of those with benign lesions, 13 of 31 patients with endometriosis had levels greater than 35 U/ml.

Spontaneous uroperitoneum and elevated Ca-125

European Journal of Internal Medicine, 2008
Spontaneous uroperitoneum occurs as a consequence of a traumatic rupture of the bladder (or ureters) leading to urinary ascites. Despite recognition of characteristic biochemical disturbances, the diagnosis remains problematic in cases without recognisable precipitating trauma.

CA 125 levels in abruptio placentae

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1991
The diagnosis of abruptio placentae is frequently difficult despite ultrasonography; additional diagnostic parameters would be useful. Maternal serum CA 125, which is believed to derive from the decidua, is elevated in the first trimester and immediately after delivery when placental separation occurs, possibly because of decidual disruption.

CA 125 levels in menopausal women

International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, 1991
To assess the use of CA 125 as a potential screening test for ovarian cancer, it is necessary to understand how the test performs among cancer-free women, who would constitute the overwhelming majority of those being tested at any time. Two hundred fifty-eight menopausal volunteers who were not seeking gynecologic care had CA 125 measured on two ...

CA 125: fundamental and clinical aspects

Seminars in Cancer Biology, 1999
Since the OC 125 monoclonal antibody (Mab) was generated, other Mabs to the CA 125 glycoprotein have been produced and classified into two families associated with two major epitope regions on the CA 125 molecule. New generation assays, combining Mabs to two distinct regions of the molecule, compare favorably with that of the original assays as ...

CA 125 in peritoneal washings and fluid: Correlation with plasma CA 125 and peritoneal cytology

International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, 1989
Sixty-four women with ovarian cancer and 46 controls with benign gynecologic conditions underwent cytologic and CA 125 evaluations of peritoneal fluid or peritoneal washings at laparotomy. These parameters were correlated with preoperative disease status, intraoperative findings, and preoperative plasma CA 125 levels to determine their value in ...

CA-125 and uterine leiomyomas.

Acta Europaea fertilitatis, 1993
CA-125, in the past considered as marker of ovarian neoplasms, has been proven to be useful successively in several obstetric-gynecologic physiopathologic conditions (Endometriosis, beginning pregnancy, PID), united by the common characteristic of peritoneal involvement.

CA-125 in Women with Endometriosis

Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics of North America, 1989
The serum CA-125 level is elevated in most women with endometriosis. Although tests are readily available to measure the marker, simple modifications of the present assays are required to improve and standardize the quality of the measurements. The serum test has low sensitivity and would not be appropriate for general screening purposes, but in ...
