Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Analytical and clinical evaluation of an electrochemiluminescence immunoassay for the determination of CA 125 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The CA 125 II assay on the Elecsys(R) 2010 analyzer was evaluated in an international multicenter trial. Imprecision studies yielded within-run CVs of 0.8-3.3% and between-day CVs of 2.4-10.9%; CVs for total imprecision in ...

TMC4 localizes to multiple taste cell types in the mouse taste papillae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Transmembrane channel‐like 4 (TMC4), a voltage‐dependent chloride channel, plays a critical role in amiloride‐insensitive salty taste transduction. TMC4 is broadly expressed in all mature taste cell types, suggesting a possible involvement of multiple cell types in this pathway.

CA-125 requisition pattern in a tertiary care hospital in central India and necessary modifications

open access: yesAsian Journal of Medical Sciences, 2017
Background: Utility of CA-125 is not limited to being tumour marker for only epithelial ovarian carcinoma but it has also been found to be elevated in various other benign and malignant conditions.

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Role of CA125 in the Diagnosis of Acute Appendicitis

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2017
Aim: Acute appendicitis (AA) is the most common surgical emergency in the world, and its diagnosis is mainly dependent on clinical findings. Recently, secretion of CA125 from peritoneal cells due to inflammatory stimulus has been shown.

Diagnostic Value of Serum Cancer Antigen 125, Carcinoembryonic Antigen, Cancer Antigen 19-9, Anti Müllerian Hormone, White Blood Cell Count, Platelet Count, and Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio in Endometriosis: A Retrospective Study [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fertility and Sterility
Background: Endometriosis is among the leading causes of morbidity in the female population worldwide. Currently, the definite diagnosis of endometriosis depends on laparoscopy as the gold-standard method.

Significance of serum tumor markers monitoring in carcinomas of unknown primary site [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background/Aim. Unknown primary tumors represent a heterogeneous group of malignancies that are indicative of ominous prognosis. Cancer of unknown primary site (CUP) is defined as the lack of any detectable primary site after full evaluation, and ...
