Determination of carcinoembryonic antigen and cancer antigen values with the radioimmunoassay method in healthy females dogs

open access: yesVeterinární Medicína, 2013
The aim of this study was to determine reference values of carcinoembryonic antigen and cancer antigen in 32 clinically healthy bitches. The average age of the bitches in each group was as follows: small breeds 3.50 ± 2.30, medium breeds 3.83 ± 3.21 ...

Light Quark Mass Effects in Bottom Quark Mass Determinations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Recent results for charm quark mass effects in perturbative bottom quark mass determinations from $\Upsilon$ mesons are reviewed. The connection between the behavior of light quark mass corrections and the infrared sensitivity of some bottom quark mass ...

On the High--Velocity Ejecta of the Type Ia Supernova 1994D

open access: yes, 1999
Synthetic spectra generated with the parameterized supernova synthetic-spectrum code SYNOW are compared to spectra of the Type Ia SN 1994D that were obtained before the time of maximum brightness. Evidence is found for the presence of two-component Fe II

Defining Roles in Pediatric Palliative Care: Perspectives From Oncology and Palliative Care Teams

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Early integration of pediatric palliative care (PPC) is associated with improved symptom management, quality of life, and healthcare utilization for children with cancer. Despite this, variation persists in how PPC is understood, operationalized, and integrated within pediatric oncology programs. In particular, ambiguity surrounding

Non-LTE Abundances and Consequences for the Evolution of the alpha elements in the Galaxy

open access: yes, 2000
Abundances of alpha-elements such as Ca and Mg in disk and halo stars are usually derived from equivalent widths lines measured on high resolution spectra, and assuming Local Thermodynamic Equilibrium (LTE) .

Effects of arterial oxygen content on peripheral locomotor muscle fatigue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The effect of arterial O2 content (Ca(O2)) on quadriceps fatigue was assessed in healthy, trained male athletes. On separate days, eight participants completed three constant-workload trials on a bicycle ergometer at fixed workloads (314 +/- 13 W).

An evaluation of preoperative CA 15-3 measurement in primary breast carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Cancer, 1995
In this study of 500 patients with breast carcinoma, we have prospectively assessed the role of preoperative CA 15-3 as a marker of disease burden over a 7 year period. CA 15-3 levels at presentation correlate with stage of disease, tumour size, lymph node status, the presence of metastases and lymphocyte infiltration into the tumour.

Feasibility and Preliminary Efficacy of Integrative Neuromuscular Training for Childhood Cancer Survivors: A Pilot Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often exhibit early deficits in muscle and movement competence, which can compromise long‐term health. Integrative neuromuscular training (INT), a multifaceted approach combining fundamental movement activities with strength exercises, may help address these deficits during ...
