The temperature dependence of fatigue behavior in nickel‐based superalloys is investigated through high‐resolution measurements of plastic localization. While increasing temperature reduces localization and enhances fatigue performance in René 88DT, Inconel 718 exhibits a sharp degradation at intermediate temperature due to intensified slip ...

Partial discharge on-line monitoring for HV cable systems using electro-optic modulators
A technique for the remote inspection and monitoring of partial discharge (PD) activity using an optical network is described. The network uses a LiNbO3 modulator to modulate the intensity of the transmitted laser light approximately proportional to the ...

Fatigue Crack Initiation and Growth in Nanocrystalline Ni at Multiple Length‐Scales
Overview of miniaturized in situ SEM fatigue setup and resultant fatigue crack growth data for nanocrystalline Ni. The presented study focuses on the analysis of fatigue crack growth rate (FCGR) in focused ion beam‐notched microcantilevers prepared from nanocrystalline (NC) Ni as a model material.

The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Statistical mechanics of driven diffusive systems
Far-from-equilibrium phenomena, while abundant in nature, are not nearly as well understood as their equilibrium counterparts. On the theoretical side, progress is slowed by the lack of a simple framework, such as the Boltzmann-Gbbs paradigm in the case ...

Calculation and Analysis of Constant Stiffness Space for Redundant Cable-Driven Parallel Robots
In this paper, a new concept of the constant stiffness space (CSS) of cable-driven parallel robots (CDPRs) is presented to meet the requirement for the constant stiffness plane of CDPRs in ground simulation spacecraft landing addressing experiments ...

Smart Transfemoral Prosthetic Socket with Motorized Cable‐Driven System
Volume fluctuations in residual limbs can significantly affect the fit of prosthetic sockets, causing discomfort and instability when wearing a limb prosthesis. As a result, users must frequently visit prosthetic centers for socket adjustments or replacements, which is time‐consuming and limiting.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
