The structures and crystal chemistry of magnesium chloride and cadmium chloride

Journal of Solid State Chemistry, 1991
Abstract The crystal structures of MgCl2 and CdCl2 have been refined using powder X-ray diffraction data. They have space group R 3 m . For magnesium chloride a = 3.6363(1) A, c = 17.6663(5) A, V = 202.31 A3, Dx = 2.35 g cm−3, Mg 0,0,0; Cl 0,0,0.25784(8), and for cadmium chloride a = 3.8459(1) A, c = 17.4931(4) A, V = 224.07 A3, Dx = 4.08 g cm−

STERILIZATION OF MALES BY INTRATESTICULAR ADMINISTRATION OF CADMIUM CHLORIDE

Acta Endocrinologica, 1962
ABSTRACT Administration of CdCl2 directly into the rat testis causes acute and irreversible destruction of the germinal epithelium. The interstitial portion regenerates after an initial phase of atrophy. The minimum effective dose of the salt (150 μg/kg) by this route is about 1/16th of the minimum dose needed to evoke these changes when ...

Effects of diethyldithiocarbamate on the toxicokinetics of cadmium chloride in mice

Toxicology, 1989
Diethyldithiocarbamate (DDC) efficiently alleviates the acute toxicity of injected cadmium chloride, but enhances the acute toxicity of orally administered cadmium chloride. Further, DDC induces extensive changes in organ distribution of cadmium, and mobilizes aged cadmium depots.

Raman Spectra of Cadmium Chloride and Cadmium Bromide

1969
The first-order lattice Raman spectra of cadmium chloride and cadmium bromide crystals were measured at room temperature on a Raman system comprising a two watt argon laser and a double monochromator. The spectra were recorded photoelectrically using conventional phase sensitive detection techniques.

Antagonists for acute oral cadmium chloride intoxication

Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, 1988
An examination has been carried out on the relative efficacy of a number of chelating agents when acting as antagonists for oral cadmium chloride intoxication in mice. The compounds were administered orally after the oral administration of cadmium chloride at 1 mmol/kg.

Solubility of cadmium chloride and the standard potential of the cadmium electrode in formamide

Transactions of the Faraday Society, 1971
The e.m.f. of the cell, Cd : Hg(2-phase amalgam)/CdCl2(m)/AgCl/Ag, where m is the number of moles of anhydrous CdCl2 per kg of formamide and lies in the range 0 < m < 0.02 has been measured at 298.15 K. The measurements are analyzed in terms of complex formation in solution to yield a value of the molal standard potential of the Cd2+/Cd electrode of –0.

EFFECT OF CADMIUM CHLORIDE ON THE PREGNANT ALBINO MOUSE

Reproduction, 1965
The selective and destructive action of a single subcutaneous injection of cadmium chloride on the testes of various laboratory animals was first described by Pařízek in 1956 (see Pařízek, 1957). These observations have been confirmed and extended in a number of laboratories (Cameron & Foster, 1963; Chiquoine, 1964; Gunn, Gould & Anderson, 1961,
