Atomic Structures of all the Twenty Essential Amino Acids and a Tripeptide, with Bond Lengths as Sums of Atomic Covalent Radii [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
Recently, the bond lengths of the molecular components of nucleic acids and of caffeine and related molecules were shown to be sums of the appropriate covalent radii of the adjacent atoms. Thus, each atom was shown to have its specific contribution to the bond length. This enabled establishing their atomic structures for the first time.

Pharmacology and relevant drug interactions of metamizole

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Metamizole is a frequently prescribed analgesic because of its favourable benefit/risk ratio compared with classic NSAIDs. However, increasing research shows that metamizole displays several drug interactions that are relevant to clinical practice. We reviewed the literature to summarize the pharmacology and most clinically relevant drug interactions ...

Make Caffeine Visible: a Fluorescent Caffeine "Traffic Light" Detector [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Caffeine has attracted abundant attention due to its extensive existence in beverages and medicines. However, to detect it sensitively and conveniently remains a challenge, especially in resource-limited regions.

Severe Caffeine Intoxication Treated With Hemodialysis: A Case Report

open access: yesKidney Medicine, 2021
Caffeine is well known for its central nervous system–stimulating effect. Toxicity may occur following high-dose caffeine ingestions. We describe a case of caffeine intoxication secondary to reported ingestion of a large dose of caffeine (60,000 mg in ...

Counterdiabatic-influenced Floquet-engineering: State preparation, annealing and learning the adiabatic gauge potential [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Counterdiabatic driving, which enforces adiabatic evolution in arbitrary timescales, can be realised by engineering a Floquet Hamiltonian which oscillates between the Hamiltonian and its derivative requiring no additional control terms. However, the coefficients of the Floquet Hamiltoinan require knowledge of the counterdiabatic terms, which can be ...

Environment Assisted Quantum Transport in Organic Molecules [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
One of the new discoveries in quantum biology is the role of Environment Assisted Quantum Transport (ENAQT) in excitonic transport processes. In disordered quantum systems transport is most efficient when the environment just destroys quantum interferences responsible for localization, but the coupling does not drive the system to fully classical ...

Periodontitis presenting among betel quid users: A case series

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Betel leaf chewing habit has been studied extensively, as it has been an ancient practice in many Asian countries. Although betel leaf has been reported to have potential beneficial properties, it has also been shown to have a strong association with oral diseases, including periodontitis. This case series addresses the presentation

UV micro-irradiation of the Chinese hamster cell nucleus and caffeine post-treatment immunocytochemical localization of DNA photolesions in cells with partial and generalized chromosome shattering [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
UV micro-irradiation of a small part of the Chinese hamster nucleus and caffeine post-incubation often results in shattered chromosomes at the first post-irradiation mitosis.
