Innate Immunocompetent hiPSC‐Derived Neurospheroids Capture Early CNS Responses to rAAV

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Knowledge of human CNS immune responses to AAV‐based gene therapies remains limited due to the lack of immune‐competent human models. Here, a hiPSC‐derived 3D neuroimmune platform integrating neurospheroids and microglia is established using stirred‐tank bioreactors.

Development of a SCA7 patient-derived lymphoblast cell model for testing RNAi knock-down of the disease-causing gene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Includes bibliographical references (leaves 106-116).Spinocerebellar ataxia type 7 (SCA7) is an inherited neurodegenerative disease caused by the expansion of a CAG repeat within the ataxin-7 gene. The South African SCA7 population has been shown to have

Association of CAG Repeats With Long-term Progression in Huntington Disease.

open access: yesJAMA Neurology, 2019
Importance In Huntington disease (HD), mutation severity is defined by the length of the CAG trinucleotide sequence, a well-known predictor of clinical onset age. The association with disease trajectory is less well characterized.

Palatable‐Food–Driven Top‐Down Circuit Inhibits PVNCRF Activity to Mitigate Stress Via Peri‐PVNCRFR1 Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Palatable food alleviates stress and prevents anxiety. This study uncovers a dedicated neural pathway: dopamine release in the PFC activates D1R neurons, whose projections to the peri‐PVN engage a population of anxiolytic CRFR1 neurons. These neurons then inhibit stress‐induced hyperactivity of PVNCRF neurons, providing a circuit‐level explanation for ...

Current Collector Engineering for New Efficient Bioresorbable Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A bioresorbable Na‐ion battery is proposed with Mo or Mg thin‐film current collectors for temporary implants. Mo‐based batteries exhibit superior electrochemical performance and stable cycling compared with Mg counterparts. XPS was used to investigate the Mo/Mg surface oxidation.
