Protease‐Activated Receptor 2 Activation Provokes an Increase in Intracellular Calcium and Serotonin Secretion in a Human Enteroendocrine Cell Line

open access: yesCell Biochemistry and Function, Volume 43, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT The P‐STS human ileal enteroendocrine tumor cell line responds with an increase in intracellular calcium and serotonin secretion to acetylcholine and histamine. Here we show that the cells react similarly to the protease‐activated receptor 2 (PAR2) agonists trypsin and SLIGRL‐NH2 peptide.

Vitamin D for Painful Diabetic Neuropathy: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Randomised Controlled Trials

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 8, Issue 6, November 2025.
This systematic review and meta‐analysis of randomised controlled trials finds that vitamin D supplementation significantly reduces short‐term pain in patients with painful diabetic neuropathy. Findings support a potential low‐risk therapy, highlighting the need for larger trials to assess long‐term efficacy and guide future clinical guidelines ...

Mirogabalin for Treatment of Neuropathic Pain and Associated Sleep Interference: An Updated Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 29, Issue 10, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Objective Neuropathic pain (NeP) is a common and debilitating consequence of several neurological conditions. Gabapentinoids are used on a large scale for the treatment of both central and peripheral NeP.
