Expression of Calcium-Binding Proteins S100A2, S100A4 in Barrett's Adenocarcinomas

open access: yesNeoplasia: An International Journal for Oncology Research, 2006
In this study, we investigated the mRNA, protein expression of S100A2, S100A4 in adenocarcinomas of the stomach, esophagus. Real-time reverse transcription-polymerase reaction analysis on 72 tumors revealed frequent overexpression of S100A2, S100A4 in ...

Inherent flexibility and protein function: the open/closed conformational transition of the N-terminal domain of calmodulin

open access: yes, 2008
The key to understanding a protein's function often lies in its conformational dynamics. We develop a coarse-grained variational model to investigate the interplay between structural transitions, conformational flexibility and function of N-terminal ...

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Experimental FTIR characterization of kidney stones, DFT analysis of CaC2O4 and its interactions with lysozyme

open access: yesBibechana
Kidney stone is an alarming global disease due to its rising incidence and prevalence. FTIR spectroscopic analysis reveals that calcium oxalate is one of the most frequent chemical constituents in kidney stones.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Relationship between Calcium-binding Ability and Structure of Soybean Protein Based on the Change of Preparation

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
Soybean protein was a high-quality plant-based alternative protein, yet its calcium content was lower than animal protein. This study measured the calcium-binding ability of soybean protein under different extraction, heat treatment, and enzymatic ...
