The effects of strigolactones on some biochemical traits in calcified media on grapevine

open access: yesNotulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca, 2022
Plants are stressed in different ways when they are in environments unsuitable for them. Among these stresses, abiotic factors are common. Calcified soil is also a stress factor.

Impact of halogenated compounds on calcium homeostasis in hepatocytes. [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmental Health Perspectives, 1990
Halocarbons (CCl4, 1,1-dichlorethylene) cause a wide spectrum of effects and injury in hepatocytes. One early effect of these compounds is the inhibition and destruction of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) calcium pump. Subsequent to inhibition of this pump, the ER calcium pool is depleted and cytosolic levels of calcium are increased for a prolonged ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

QUANTITATIVE DISCERNMENTS OF THE DIFFERENT CALCIUM COMPOUNDS IN THE TARFAYA OIL SHALE (MOROCCO)

open access: yes, 2023
Calcium exists in several compounds, calcite (CaCO3), dolomite (CaMg (CO3)2), calcium oxide (CaO) and calcium chloride dihydrated (CaCl2, 2H2O). All of these calcium compounds occur in oil shale.

Comparative evaluation of eggshell-derived nano-hydroxyapatite and amniotic membrane as pulpotomy agents in primary teeth: A randomized clinical trial

open access: yesJournal of Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry
Background: Despite the clinical success of existing pulpotomy medicaments, the search for novel and economically viable alternatives continues. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the efficacy of eggshell-derived nano-hydroxyapatite (EnHA) and ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Influence of Organo-Sulfur Compounds with Overbased Calcium Compounds on Lubrication in Cold Forming

open access: yesLubricants, 2017
The authors analyzed the structures of sulfurized olefins using NMR spectroscopy and studied the effects of sulfur chain length and alkyl structure on the ironing performance.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Nanoparticulate hydroxyapatite and calcium-based CO2 sorbents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This thesis is focused on the development of synthesis and characterisation protocols for two different nanoparticulate materials; hydroxyapatite (HA), a biomaterial well recognised as chemically akin to human bone, and CaO, a material often used for the

The Efficacy of Calcium Carbonate Scale Inhibition by Commercial Polymer Scale Inhibitors

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2015
The efficacy of calcium carbonate scale inhibition by three selected inhibitors, Polymaleic Acid (PMA), Polyamino Polyether Methylene Phosphonic Acid (PAPEMP) and Acrylic Acid-Maleic Anhydride (AA/MA) copolymer was investigated via static beaker tests at
