Comparative evaluation of eggshell-derived nano-hydroxyapatite and amniotic membrane as pulpotomy agents in primary teeth: A randomized clinical trial

open access: yesJournal of Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry
Background: Despite the clinical success of existing pulpotomy medicaments, the search for novel and economically viable alternatives continues. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the efficacy of eggshell-derived nano-hydroxyapatite (EnHA) and ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The Efficacy of Calcium Carbonate Scale Inhibition by Commercial Polymer Scale Inhibitors

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2015
The efficacy of calcium carbonate scale inhibition by three selected inhibitors, Polymaleic Acid (PMA), Polyamino Polyether Methylene Phosphonic Acid (PAPEMP) and Acrylic Acid-Maleic Anhydride (AA/MA) copolymer was investigated via static beaker tests at

Influence of the structural modulations and the Chain-ladder interaction in the $Sr\_{14-x}Ca\_{x}Cu\_{24}O\_{41}$ compounds

open access: yes, 2006
We studied the effects of the incommensurate structural modulations on the ladder subsystem of the $Sr\_{14-x}Ca\_{x}Cu\_{24}O\_{41}$ family of compounds using ab-initio explicitly-correlated calculations.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Analysis of products from the pyrolysis of plastics recovered from the commercial scale recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Three plastic fractions from a commercial waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) processing plant were collected and investigated for the possibility of recycling them by batch pyrolysis. The first plastic was from equipment containing cathode

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Calcium phosphate crystal forms in human jaw bones of changed osteoporotic structure [PDF]

open access: yesStomatološki glasnik Srbije, 2011
Introduction. Calcium phosphates are chemical compounds that can be found in various forms within nature, as well as in human jaws and bones. The aim of this study was to assess the structure of solid chemical compounds which form the structure of ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
