Nimodipine promotes neurite outgrowth and protects against neurotoxicity in PC12 cells [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Basic Medical Sciences, 2021
Objective(s): Nimodipine is an L-type voltage-dependent calcium channel (VDCC) antagonist. However, the actions of nimodipine except calcium blocking are poorly understood. This study aimed to investigate the effect of nimodipine on neurite outgrowth and

Artificial Egg Activation Using Calcium Ionophore

open access: yesSeminars in Reproductive Medicine, 2021
AbstractArtificial oocyte activation, most commonly using calcium ionophore, is a treatment add-on utilized to avoid recurrence of abnormally low or total failed fertilization following in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection. It aims to modify defective physiological processes, specifically calcium-mediated cell signaling that are ...

Mitogenic Properties of a Calcium Ionophore, A23187 [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1974
A23187 is a carboxylic antibiotic that selectively transfers calcium, magnesium, and other divalent cations across biologic membranes. This ionophore was found to produce morphologic blast transformation, DNA synthesis, and mitosis in human lymphocytes. Several hours of ionophore-cell contact were necessary to produce optimal mitogenesis.

Tetrahydrobiopterin analogues with NO-dependent pulmonary vasodilator properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Reduced NO levels due to the deficiency of tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) contribute to impaired vasodilation in pulmonary hypertension Due to the chemically unstable nature of BH4 it was hypothesised that oxidatively stable analogues of BR, would be able to ...

Myosin V and iNOS expression is enhanced in J774 murine macrophages treated with IFN-gamma [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2001
Actin-based motor protein requirements and nitric oxide (NO) production are important features of macrophage activity during phagocytosis or microbicidal processes.

Calcium signalling links MYC to NUAK1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
NUAK1 is a member of the AMPK-related family of kinases. Recent evidence suggests that NUAK1 is an important regulator of cell adhesion and migration, cellular and organismal metabolism, and regulation of TAU stability.

Cold Induction of EARLI1, a Putative Arabidopsis Lipid Transfer Protein, Is Light and Calcium Dependent [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
As sessile organisms, plants must adapt to their environment. One approach toward understanding this adaptation is to investigate environmental regulation of gene expression.

Cyclosporin A inhibits PGE2 release from vascular smooth muscle cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The influence of the fungoid undecapeptide cyclosporin A (CyA) on PGE2 release from cultured rat aortic smooth muscle cells was investigated in this study.
