Integrated calculator programs for pharmacokinetic calculations

American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 1982
A package of integrated programs for calculating pharmacokinetic variables and drug-dosing regimens using a hand-held programmable calculator is described. Twelve pharmacokinetic programs, which were based on previously published pharmacokinetic equations, were developed for use in a HP-41C hand-held calculator (Hewlett-Packard).

Dose calculation in opioid rotation: electronic calculator vs. manual calculation

International Journal of Clinical Pharmacy, 2011
To generate, validate and establish a web-based individualised opioid conversion calculator at the University Hospital Basel and to analyse its value and significance.A 700-bed university hospital.Published data were screened by a Medline search using the keywords: opioid, rotation, switching, potency and dose ratio.

Calculous pyelonephritis

International Urology and Nephrology, 1992
The authors report on 48 patients with calculous pyelonephritis. Urinary obstruction was caused by renal calculi in 21 patients and ureteral calculi in 27. Urine cultures were positive in 87.5% and bacteremia was seen in 70%. The common organisms in urine and blood culture were E. coli, Proteus and Klebsiella. Septic shock occurred in 10 (20.8%) out of

The Logic of Calculation

Mathematical Logic Quarterly, 1977
In the present paper a characterization of ordinary combinatory logic and of combinatory logic with discriminators is given. The main difference between these theories consists, as the author demonstrates, in the features of representation of algorithms: in the first system the detour of Gödel numbering is needed, but in the second system it is avoided.

Calculator Calculations

The Mathematics Teacher, 1979
It is certainly true that there are many calculations that are difficult, if not practically impossible, without the aid of a calculator. The article “Calculations You Would Never Make without a Minicalculator” (Litwiller & Duncan 1977) illustrates a sample of these.

Calculating with Automata

2008
Some elements are presented of a forthcoming textbook on automata theory and formal languages, that puts more emphasis on equational reasoning. Some advantages of such an approach are discussed. This paper is dedicated to Ugo Montanari, who has contributed such a lot to concurrency theory and the theory of computational models.

Survey calculations

ACM SIGCSE Bulletin, 2004
One of my passions in life is to try and understand how we have developed the wonderful calculating ability we currently possess. Anyone with this hobby will undoubtedly start by looking back to see how the first PCs were developed, then progress back to older "mainframe" computers, and perhaps even to pre-computer mechanical devices.
