Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Rapid assessment of main agronomic indicators in the grain of winter and spring forms of triticale using infrared spectroscopy

open access: yesТруды по прикладной ботанике, генетике и селекции
Background. Calibration models were developed for rapid assessment of crucial agronomic indicators in the grain of winter and spring triticale from the VIR collection using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS).

Investigation of NIR spectra pre-processing methods combined with multivariate regression for determination of moisture in powdered industrial egg

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Technology, 2018
High productivity and meantime perishability of in natura eggs, make powdered egg attractive for patisseries and pasta industries. Water reduction in 65%, extends shelf life from 1 to 12 months, preventing also Salmonella.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Results from Geometric and Radiometric Calibration of TerraSAR-X [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
As TerraSAR-X, due for launch in 2007, will be an operational scientific mission with commercial potential, product quality is of crucial importance. The success or failure of the mission essentially depends on the calibration of the TerraSAR-X system ...

Rapid assessment of biochemical indicators of agronomic value in amaranth seed accessions from the VIR collection using NIR spectroscopy

open access: yesТруды по прикладной ботанике, генетике и селекции
Background. Amaranth (Amaranthus L.) is a relatively new crop for the Russian Federation, with huge potential for growth intensity, productivity, and other agronomic traits. Development of new amaranth cultivars is an important solution to the problem of

Empirical Absolute Calibration Model for Multiple Pseudo-Invariant Calibration Sites

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
This work extends an empirical absolute calibration model initially developed for the Libya 4 Pseudo-Invariant Calibration Site (PICS) to five additional Saharan Desert PICS (Egypt 1, Libya 1, Niger 1, Niger 2, and Sudan 1), and demonstrates the efficacy

Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

A jump-diffusion Libor model and its robust calibration [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we propose a jump-diffusion Libor model with jumps in a high-dimensional space (Rm) and test a stable non-parametric calibration algorithm which takes into account a given local covariance structure.

Evaluating model calibration in classification

open access: yesCoRR, 2019
Probabilistic classifiers output a probability distribution on target classes rather than just a class prediction. Besides providing a clear separation of prediction and decision making, the main advantage of probabilistic models is their ability to represent uncertainty about predictions.
