Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Performance modelling of a multirate loss system with batched Poisson arrivals under a probabilistic threshold policy

open access: yesIET Networks, 2018
The authors consider a link accommodating batched Poisson arriving calls of different service classes. A batch of generally distributed number of calls arrive to the link at exponentially distributed time‐points.

A Markov Model to Calculate New and Hand-off Call Blocking Probabilities in LEO Satellite Networks

open access: yes, 2008
We derive a Markov Model to calculate new call and hand-off call blocking probabilities in LEO satellite networks carrying voice calls. The model is used to define blocking conditions for new and hand-off calls.

Left node blocking

open access: yes, 2017
This article investigates a particular phenomenon of coordination that delivers important clues about the nature of syntactic structures. We call this phenomenonleft node blocking– the designation is a play on the related concept ofright node raising ...

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS AND ROUTING TECHNIQUES IN LEO SATELLITE SYSTEMS

open access: yesElectrica, 2005
In this paper, we survey techniques for routing and performance analysis of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) systems. We first review the basic structure of LEO satellite communications and present the main characteristics of LEO systems.

On the Scalability of Addressing in Private Networks Using RPX

open access: yesJournal of Communications Software and Systems, 2007
In recent times, the imminent lack of public IPv4 addresses has attracted the attention of both research community and industry. The cellular industry has decided to combat thisproblem by using IPv6 for all new terminals.

Static Analysis of Spam Call Blocking Applications: Common Android APIs Used for Call Interception and Blocking

open access: yes, 2022
In order to combat increasing spam calls, many applications are developed and downloaded to block those calls. Some studies about performance of the applications were previously conducted, however, the actual processes the applications go through to ...
