YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

QoS Equalization in a W-CDMA Cell Supporting Calls of Infinite or Finite Sources with Interference Cancelation

open access: yesJournal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2014
In this paper, a multirate loss model for the calculation of time and call congestion probabilities in a Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA) cell is considered.

A Markov Model to calculate new and hand-off call blocking probabilities in LEO satellite networks

open access: yes, 2003
We derive a Markov Model to calculate new call and hand-off call blocking probabilities in LEO satellite networks carrying voice calls. The model is used to define blocking conditions for new and hand-off calls.

Some self-blocking block designs

open access: yes, 1989
Let D be a block design which has a blocking set. We call D self-blocking if the following two conditions hold: (i) The committees of D (i.e. the blocking sets of minimum cardinality of D) form a block design, which we denote by DC and (ii) The ...

Transient handover blocking probabilities in road covering cellular mobile networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This paper investigates handover and fresh call blocking probabilities for subscribers moving along a road in a traffic jam passing through consecutive cells of a wireless network.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Prolonged Relief of Chronic Pain from Local Anaesthetic Blocks

open access: yesPain Research and Management, 2000
In a fascinating essay on the future of local anesthetic agents, Wall (1) cited a 1990 paper from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, entitled 'Prolonged relief of neuralgia after regional anesthetic blocks: A call for further experimental and

Performance analysis of a handoff scheme for two-tier cellular CDMA networks

open access: yesEgyptian Informatics Journal, 2011
A two-tier model is used in cellular networks to improve the Quality of Service (QoS), namely to reduce the blocking probability of new calls and the forced termination probability of ongoing calls.

Analysis of components in the manifest file of spam call blocking applications on Android

open access: yes, 2022
Spam calls are a widespread problem as people receive about 14 spam calls per month on average. In response, tens of applications are available in Google’s Play Store that aim to block these calls.

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.
