Postharvest bacterial succession on cut flowers and vase water. [PDF]
In cut flowers, xylem occlusion or blockage by bacteria negatively affects water balance and postharvest quality. Many studies have used culture-based methods to examine bacterial populations in vase water and their effects on flower longevity.

Development changes in calla lily plants due to salt stress
Soil salinity is mainly caused by excessive use of fertilizers and the use of poor quality water, and adversely affected crop growth especially when grown in protected environments. Soil salinity causes salt stress in plants, which inhibits plant growth, leading to morphological, metabolic and physiological changes.

POSTHARVEST STUDIES OF THE WHITE CALLA LILY, ZANTEDESCHIA AETHIOPICA [PDF]
Inflorescences of Zantedeschia aethiopica Spreng (calla lily) were placed in various holding solutions for postharvest life comparisons. Solutions containing deionized water (01), 200 ppm eight-hydroxyquinoline citrate (8-HQC), 200 ppm 8-HQC + 0.025 M sucrose, 200 ppm 8·HQC + 0.025 M sucrose + 50 ppm dithiothreitol (OTE), or 50 ppm OTE did not ...

POSTHARVEST LONGEVITY OF THE LEAVES OF THE CALLA LILY (Zantedeschia Spreng.)
Effect of growth regulators on postharvest longevity of Zantedeschia albomaculata /Hook/ Baill.) leaves was evaluated in studiem. The aim of 3 experiments to evaluate the effect of topolin used in two forms: meta-methoxytopolin (MemT) and its riboside ...

Mechanism Underlying Color Variation in Calla Lily Spathes Based on Transcriptomic Analysis
The calla lily (Zantedeschia hybrida) is a valued ornamental plant due to its unique shape and color variations. To determine the mechanisms responsible for color development in the calla lily spathe, we conducted a comparative transcriptomic analysis of

Abstract Aquatic invasive species (AIS) present major ecological and economic challenges globally, endangering ecosystems and human livelihoods. Managers and policy makers thus need tools to predict invasion risk and prioritize species and areas of concern, and they often use native range climate matching to determine whether a species could persist in

Calla Lily flower inspired morphing of flat films to conical tubes
Abstract Recently researchers have developed soft actuators capable of morphing into complex shapes taking inspiration from nature. In this paper, we have developed a splay‐nematic liquid crystal polymer network tapered actuator that can morph from a flat film to a cone, mimicking the blooming of single petal Calla Lily flower. We have demonstrated the

The Design of 4D‐Printed Hygromorphs: State‐of‐the‐Art and Future Challenges
A holistic review and design guidelines for 4D‐printed macroscale composite actuators triggered by humidity, so‐called hygromorphs, are proposed. The review also discusses production‐related parameters, models, measurement techniques, and actuation parameters that characterize state‐of‐the‐art hygromorph actuators.
