Refrigeration Performance and Entropy Generation Analysis for Reciprocating Magnetic Refrigerator with Gd Plates

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
In the current work, a novel 2D numerical model of stationary grids was developed for reciprocating magnetic refrigerators, with Gd plates, in which the magneto-caloric properties, derived from the Weiss molecular field theory, were adopted for the built-

ChatGPT4 on the Caloric Theory of Heat

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Applied Physics, 2023
This is my first attempt to communicate with the ChatGPT4 on the caloric theory of heat. ChatGPT4 reacted promptly with a good overview of this topic. ChatGPT4 during our half hour conversation brought a new view to this topic with some unknown references to the author of this contribution.

Effect of Flow on Caloric Curve for Finite Nuclei

open access: yes, 1997
In a finite temperature Thomas-Fermi theory, we construct caloric curves for finite nuclei enclosed in a freeze-out volume few times the normal nuclear volume, with and without inclusion of flow.

Obesidade Infantil a Partir de um Olhar Histórico Sobre Alimentação

open access: yesInteração em Psicologia, 2012
This article presents an overview of the history of feeding and its influence on the development of childhood obesity. We analyze different historical moments, following the major transformations in society and, as a consequence, in the household diet ...

The effect of souvenaid on functional brain network organisation in patients with mild Alzheimer's disease: a randomised controlled study. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Synaptic loss is a major hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Disturbed organisation of large-scale functional brain networks in AD might reflect synaptic loss and disrupted neuronal communication.

Hoffmann-Infeld Black Hole Solutions in Lovelock Gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Five-dimensional black holes are studied in Lovelock gravity coupled to Hoffmann-Infeld non-linear electrodynamics. It is shown that some of these solutions present a double peak behavior of the temperature as a function of the horizon radius.

Homeostasis balance, homeostasis imbalance or distinct motivational processes? Comments on Marks (2015) ‘Homeostatic Theory of Obesity’

open access: yesHealth Psychology Open, 2016
In his article, ‘Homeostatic theory of obesity’, Marks suggested that imbalances in homeostatic processes could explain weight gain and obesity. He proposes that over-consumption of high-caloric, low-nutrient and low satiating foods, combined with a ...

A General Life History Theory for Effects of Caloric Restriction on Health Maintenance [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Systems Biology, 2011
Caloric restriction (CR) has been shown to keep organisms in a relatively youthful and healthy state compared to ad libitum fed counterparts, as well as to extend the lifespan of a diverse set of organisms. Several attempts have been made to understand the underlying mechanisms from the viewpoint of energy tradeoffs in organisms' life histories ...

Relations of change in fruit and vegetable intake with overall energy reduction and physical activity with weight change: Assessing theory-based psychosocial mediators

open access: yesJournal of Sport and Health Science, 2019
Background: Increased physical activity and fruit and vegetable (FV) intake are typically suggested to counter obesity. Sustained behavior change in those areas has, however, been poor, possibly because of a lack of understanding of the effects of ...
