Adipocyte‐Derived Leptolin Enhances Energy Expenditure and Prevents Obesity
We identified a novel adipokine, which we named leptolin. In humans, leptolin levels in white adipose tissue were positively correlated with exercise and negatively associated with body mass index. We observed elevated leptolin in serum from athletes and lower leptolin in serum from obese individuals.

Metabolic Rate Measuring with Indirect Calorimetry for Thermal Comfort Evaluation
The metabolic rate (MET) is a fundamental parameter influencing thermal comfort. In this paper, the MET is obtained by indirect calorimetry to propose equations and related laws applicable to the environment at an altitude of 4 m, so as to enrich the ...

ABSTRACT Brown and beige adipocytes dissipate energy as heat, yet effective strategies to enhance their mitochondrial efficiency remain limited. Here, we identify Agnuside (AGN) as a selective stabilizer of the complex I assembly factor NDUFAF6. AGN directly binds cytosolic NDUFAF6, suppresses its ubiquitination, prolongs its half‐life, and facilitates

Physiological activation of myeloid p38 controls macrophage IL‐12 production and crosstalk to the liver by modulating hepatic FGF21, and subsequently, brown adipose tissue thermogenesis during obesity Abstract Obesity features excessive fat accumulation in several body tissues and induces a state of chronic low‐grade inflammation that contributes to ...

The mammalian TGFβ interacts with ubiquitously expressed TGFBR1 and TGFBR2, and current TGFβ‐targeting agents are non‐cell‐selective. The cooperative interaction of the modular parasite TGFβ antagonist with multiple host (co‐)receptors empowers the design of TGM chimeras and bispecific antibodies that activate or inhibit TGFβ signaling in a cell ...

A supramolecular nanocomplex based on phenolic‐modified silk sericin is developed to deliver antioxidant enzymes across the blood–brain barrier and escape lysosomal degradation. This dual‐barrier‐crossing system reduces neuroinflammation and improves cognitive performance in Alzheimer's disease mouse model, offering a promising strategy for protein ...

Analysis of Resting Energy Expenditure in the Clinical Course of Critically Ill Surgical Patients with Sepsis: Prospective Observational Study [PDF]
Purpose It is important to understand changes in energy requirements in critically ill patients with sepsis. This study investigates alterations in energy requirements based on the clinical course of sepsis in patients admitted to the surgical intensive ...

Novel indirect calorimetry technology to analyze metabolism in individual neonatal rodent pups. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: The ability to characterize the development of metabolic function in neonatal rodents has been limited due to technological constraints. Low respiratory volumes and flows at rest pose unique problems, making it difficult to reliably measure O(

TAX2‐NPs capture extracellular TSP‐1 in the injured liver and promote its macrophage‐mediated autophagic degradation. This process blocks TSP‐1/CD47 signaling, restores VEGFR2‐AKT activity, preserves endothelial function, and mitigates hepatic ischemia‐reperfusion injury.
