Phosphorylation of Glutamine Synthetase on Threonine 301 Contributes to Its Inactivation During Epilepsy

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2019
The astrocyte-specific enzyme glutamine synthetase (GS), which catalyzes the amidation of glutamate to glutamine, plays an essential role in supporting neurotransmission and in limiting NH4+ toxicity.

Puerarin‑Loaded pH‑Responsive ZIF‑90 Nanoparticles Ameliorate Osteoporosis via Enhancing H3K18 Lactylation and Suppressing Aberrant Osteoclast Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of the mechanism by which ZIF‐90@PU alleviates osteoporosis via H3K18la‐mediated NFATc1 pathway suppression. ABSTRACT Osteoporosis is characterized by dysregulated osteoclast activity, leading to excessive bone resorption and structural damage.

cGMP-dependent protein kinase I is crucial for angiogenesis and postnatal vasculogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background Endothelium-derived nitric oxide plays an important role for the bone marrow microenvironment. Since several important effects of nitric oxide are mediated by cGMP-dependent pathways, we investigated the role of the cGMP downstream effector ...

Bioenergetic Materials for Tissue Regeneration: Modulating Metabolism to Promote Cellular Anabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bioenergetic materials (BEMs) modulate cellular metabolism to promote tissue regeneration. Their principal mechanisms of action include metabolic substrate supplementation, metabolic enzyme modulation, organelle transfer, electrical current regulation, redox homeostasis modulation, and oxygen tension modulation.

Cannabinoid CB1 Receptor in Nociceptors Mediates Postoperative Analgesia via ASIC3 Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CB1R and ASIC3 are co‐expressed in CGRP+ nociceptors of mouse DRG. Plantar incision triggers an upregulation of ASIC3 and activation of ASIC3+ neurons, driving mechanical allodynia. CB1R activation suppresses ASIC3 function and downstream ERK1/2 phosphorylation, thereby braking nociceptive signaling and accelerating pain resolution.

Genetic Diversity, Adaptation, Wild Introgression, and Coat Color Mutation of Golden Yak

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Genetic diversity, adaptation, wild introgression, and coat color mutation of golden yak from two populations on the Qinghai‐Xizang Plateau. ABSTRACT The golden yak lives on the Qinghai‐Xizang Plateau with a golden coat and adapts to high altitudes and strong ultraviolet environment. The golden coat is a prominent phenotype in many domesticated species,
