Spin Systems and Computational Complexity [PDF]
I give a very brief non-technical introduction to the intersection of the fields of spin systems and computational complexity. The focus is on spin glasses and their relationship to NP-complete problems.

Pricing European Options with a Log Student's t-Distribution: a Gosset Formula [PDF]
The distribution of the returns for a stock are not well described by a normal probability density function (pdf). Student's t-distributions, which have fat tails, are known to fit the distributions of the returns. We present pricing of European call or put options using a log Student's t-distribution, which we call a Gosset approach in honour of W.S ...

The Differing Federalisms of Canada and the United States [PDF]
The differences in the ways in which the US and Canada have structured their federalisms are discussed. Both systems have judicial supremacy, but Canada recognizes far more legislative power in the provinces than the US allows its ...

The Neuroptera of Canada consists of 101 extant species, an increase of 26 (35%) since the previous assessment of the fauna in 1979. More than 48 additional species are believed to occur in Canada based largely on recent DNA evidence and new distribution records. The Barcode Of Life Data System (BOLD) currently includes 141 Barcode Index Numbers (BINs)

Thus far, 335 currently valid species in 82 genera and 21 families of mayflies (Ephemeroptera) have been documented from Canada, remarkably representing a little more than half of the combined species richness of Canada, Mexico and the USA. The current known species richness for Canada represents an increase of 11.3% as compared to that reported in ...

Nucleation and Growth of bundles of Single-Wall Carbon Nanotubes (C-SWNTs): the Benard-Marangoni Instability (BMI) model [PDF]
A complete explanation of the synthesis of metal-catalyst nanoparticles, and the subsequent nucleation and growth of bundles of C-SWNTs is introduced using a novel model. It is shown that the synthesis process leads to the formation of a liquid layer supersaturated in carbon surrounding each metallic-catalyst nanoparticle.
