Designing the statistically optimal drug for cancer therapy [PDF]
Cancer and healthy cells have distinct distributions of molecular properties and thus respond differently to drugs. Cancer drugs ideally kill cancer cells while limiting harm to healthy cells. However, the inherent variance among cells in both cancer and healthy cell populations increases the difficulty of selective drug action.

Cancer registry in Iran: A brief overview [PDF]
Cancer registry is an important tool for any successful cancer control program. The first formal cancer related data from Iran were published in 1956. In 1969, observations documenting a high incidence of esophageal cancer in the Caspian Littoral, urged ...

We assessed the associations between the gut microbiota and outcome in metastatic triple‐negative breast cancer patients treated with chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy in combination with immunotherapy. Our data indicate that high gut microbiota alpha diversity was associated with improved clinical outcome and with benefit from immunotherapy.

Nanoscale structural alterations in cancer cells to assess anti-cancerous drug effectiveness in cancer treatment using TEM imaging [PDF]
Understanding the nanoscale structural changes can provide the physical state of cells/tissues. It has been now shown that increases in nanoscale structural alterations are associated with the progress of carcinogenesis in most of the cancer cases, including early carcinogenesis. Anti-cancerous therapies are intended for the growth inhibition of cancer

PIK3CA amplification and PIK3CA mutation enhance ovarian tumorigenicity through an activation of AKT, which phosphorylates YAP at Ser127. This Ser127 phosphorylation leads to the retention of YAP in the cytoplasm and triggers RAC1 activity, promoting cell migration. Additionally, AKT activation increases expression of N‐cadherin, which further enhances

Cancer systems biology: exploring cancer-associated genes on cellular networks [PDF]
Genomic alterations lead to cancer complexity and form a major hurdle for a comprehensive understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying oncogenesis. In this review, we describe the recent advances in studying cancer-associated genes from a systems biological point of view. The integration of known cancer genes onto protein and signaling networks

Breast tumor samples scored for metabolic deregulation (M1 to M3) were given a hypoxia score (HS). The highest HS occurred in patients with strongest metabolic deregulation (M3), supporting tumor aggressiveness. HS correlated with the highest number of metabolic pathways in M1. This suggests hypoxia to be an early event in metabolic deregulation.

Multi-cancer molecular signatures and their interrelationships [PDF]
Although cancer is known to be characterized by several unifying biological hallmarks, systems biology has had limited success in identifying molecular signatures present in in all types of cancer. The current availability of rich data sets from many different cancer types provides an opportunity for thorough computational data mining in search of such
