ER proteostasis meets mitochondrial function: contact sites as hubs of communication and therapeutic targets

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Proteostasis ensures proper protein folding, modification, and degradation, while its impairment triggers ER stress. Chronic ER stress and maladaptive UPR via the CHOP–ERO1 axis remodel ERMCs, altering calcium signaling and mitochondrial metabolism.

Pattern‐based interpretation of SOX2 expression in ovarian teratomas: avoiding diagnostic pitfalls in the distinction between immature and mature neuroectodermal elements

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
Ovarian immature teratoma grading may be confounded by mature neuroectodermal mimics. SOX2 labelled immature neuroepithelium but also mature ependymal and glial tissue, while SALL4 was negative in mature mimics and variably expressed in immature neuroepithelium.

Glycogen Synthase Kinase 3 Regulates Cell Death and Survival Signaling in Tumor Cells under Redox Stress

open access: yesNeoplasia: An International Journal for Oncology Research, 2014
Targeting tumor-specific metabolic adaptations is a promising anticancer strategy when tumor defense mechanisms are restrained. Here, we show that redox-modulating drugs including the retinoid N-(4-hydroxyphenyl)retinamide (4HPR), the synthetic ...

Extensive colectomy in colorectal cancer and hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer – long-term results

open access: yesJournal of Coloproctology, 2019
Background: Colorectal cancer survival is better in hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer patients than in sporadic colorectal cancer patients and even for hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer with colorectal cancer is not consensual that ...

Adenine nucleotide translocator and ATP synthase cooperate in mediating the mitochondrial permeability transition

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Both ATP synthase and adenine nucleotide translocator (ANT) play key roles in mediating the permeability transition. The contribution of ANT becomes evident in the presence of atractylate (ATR) at pH 6.5, a condition that prevents ATP synthase channel activity. At pH 7.4, this effect is minimal, suggesting a critical role for ATP

Voltage‐gated potassium channels mediate thyroid hormone control of skeletal muscle excitability

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Thyroid hormone (TH)‐dependent remodelling of potassium (K+) channel networks regulates skeletal muscle (SkM) excitability. Triiodothyronine (T3), locally generated from thyroxine (T4) by type 2 deiodinase (D2), binds thyroid hormone receptors (TRα/β) and modulates transcription via thyroid response elements (TREs).

Resource‐Adapted Triage Strategies for Women Testing HPV Positive With Self‐Collected Vaginal Samples in Cameroon

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 8, Page 1949-1961, 15 October 2026.
Although human papillomavirus (HPV) testing is recommended for cervical cancer screening in low‐ and middle‐income countries, optimal management of HPV‐positive women remains undetermined, particularly in resource‐limited settings. Here, using data from the 3T study involving women in Cameroon, the authors evaluated the ability of extended HPV ...
