Molecular identification and susceptibility profile in vitro of the emerging pathogen Candida kefyr

Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 2010
Candida kefyr has been increasingly associated with bloodstream infections. This study reports on the identification and antifungal susceptibility pattern of 33 Candida isolates, identified biochemically as C. kefyr. One strain was finally identified as Candida sphaerica (Kluyveromyces lactis) by ITS sequencing.

Maternal Sepsis, Chorioamnionitis, and Congenital Candida kefyr Infection in Premature Twins

Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, 2012
This is the first reported case of maternal sepsis and placental transmission of Candida kefyr to premature fraternal twins. The mother consumed organic dairy products regularly throughout her pregnancy and developed sepsis with chorioamnionitis caused by C. kefyr. The twins developed respiratory distress at birth.

Production, purification, and characterization of metalloprotease from Candida kefyr 41 PSB

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2017
A thermostable metalloprotease, produced from an environmental strain of Candida kefyr 41 PSB, was purified 16 fold with a 60% yield by cold ethanol precipitation and affinity chromatography (bentonite-acrylamide-cysteine microcomposite). The purified enzyme appeared as a single protein band at 43kDa. Its optimum pH and temperature points were found to

Candida kefyr, an Uncommon but Emerging Fungal Pathogen: Report of Two Cases

Pharmacotherapy: The Journal of Human Pharmacology and Drug Therapy, 2004
Although Candida species are present as normal microflora of the human host, alterations in host defenses can lead to development of disease. Candida infections, ranging from urinary tract infections to bloodstream infections, are common in patients in the intensive care unit.

Candida kefyr as a cause of bloodstream infection and adjunctive role of biomarkers in its diagnosis

Journal de Mycologie Médicale, 2015
A rare case of bloodstream infection caused by Candida kefyr is described. The diagnosis was established by repeatedly isolating the yeast in blood cultures and by detecting C. kefyr-specific DNA in serum samples. Demonstration of elevated serum levels of β-D-glucan and Candida mannan also provided additional diagnostic evidence.

Nonthermal Plasma Jet Efficacy on Candida Kefyr

2012
The inactivation abilities of a nonthermal plasma jet were investigated with the yeast C. kefyr, a pathogen with increasing importance in healthcare. The plasma is generated using a microhollow cathode discharge (MHCD) geometry operated with a DC voltage of 2 kV and a current of 30 mA using air as the operating gas at an airflow rate of 8 SLM.

Isolation and characterization of Candida kefyr orotidine‐5′‐phosphate decarboxylase (URA3) gene

Yeast, 2009
AbstractCandida kefyr is a common yeast species that can be found in fermented milk and cheeses. As a first step to developing a gene transfer system for C. kefyr, the orotidine‐5′‐phosphate decarboxylase (URA3) gene was cloned, using degenerate PCR and genome walking. The uninterrupted open reading frame of the C.

CANDİDA KEFYR İLE OLUŞAN PNÖMONİ

2011
Normal insan florasında bulunan Candida türleri, immunsüpresyon gelişmesi halinde infeksiyona neden olabilir. Candida infeksiyonları sıklıkla albikans suşlarıyla gözlenmekle beraber, son zamanlarda albikans dışı suşlar ile olan infeksiyonların sıklığı artmıştır.

[Isolation and characterization of lactose-fermenting yeasts Candida kefyr].

TSitologiia i genetika, 2014
The search for lactose-fermenting yeast strains has been conducted among 162 strains isolated from various plants and 28 yeast strains isolated from cheese. Four yeast strains have been shown to ferment lactose. They have been identified as Candida kefyr. Specific beta-galactosidase activity of the studied strains grown on lactose-containing medium was
