[Emerging pathogen: Candida kefyr (Kluvyeromyces marxianus)].
In the central microbiology laboratory of Gazi University Hospital Candida kefyr was isolated from different clinical samples as 5.3% in 2016 and in 2017 this rate increased to 9.3% which was nearly two-fold and this has drawn our attention. The aim of this study was to evaluate the special characteristics, antifungal susceptibility and virulence ...

Structure of cell wall mannan of Candida kefyr IFO 0586 [PDF]
We conducted a structural analysis of the antigenic cell wall mannoprotein (mannan) isolated from Candida kefyr (formerly Candida pseudotropicalis) IFO 0586. The result of two-dimensional homonuclear Hartmann-Hahn analysis of this mannan indicates that the molecule is constructed from alpha-1,2- and alpha-1,6-linked mannopyranose residues.

Torque Teno Virus Dynamics in Plasma and BAL of COVID‐19 ARDS Patients With and Without ECMO
ABSTRACT Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is used to manage severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and is associated with immune modulation. Torque teno virus (TTV) has been proposed as a surrogate marker of immune competence, but it remains unclear whether ECMO influences TTV levels.

ABSTRACT Background Immunocompromised children with hematologic malignancies or undergoing allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) are at high risk for invasive fungal diseases (IFDs). Reported incidence varies considerably due to heterogeneous diagnostic criteria, antifungal strategies and environmental conditions.

Antifungal and Antibiofilm Activities of Some Essential Oils Against Candida spp
Candida species are commonly encountered strains associated with a wide range of infections. Unlike bacterial pathogens, fungal pathogens treatment is difficult and the development of resistance has been increasing at an alarming rate. In this study, the

An Update on Invasive Fungal Infections in Solid Organ Transplant Recipients
ABSTRACT Invasive fungal infections (IFI) remain a significant infection‐related complication in solid organ transplant recipients (SOTRs), the incidence of which has not changed overtime. With a focus on studies and data published after 2019, this narrative review provides an update on the epidemiology and prevention of IFIs in SOTRs and highlights ...
