Relationship Between Intragastric Meal Distribution, Gastric Emptying, and Gastric Neuromuscular Dysfunction in Chronic Gastroduodenal Disorders

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
Multimodal physiological testing using gastric emptying scintigraphy with intragastric meal distribution and body surface gastric mapping showed proximal retention of food correlated with delayed emptying and neuromuscular spectral abnormalities (abnormal slow wave frequencies or rhythms) and delayed motility responses on BSGM.

Socio‐Economic Determinants and Regional Prevalence of Disorders of Gut‐Brain Interaction in the Netherlands: Results From the Rome Foundation Global Epidemiology Study

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
Disorders of gut‐brain interaction affect nearly one‐third of adults in the Netherlands, with no regional variation in prevalence. Putative risk factors include limited or no access to healthcare and unemployment, highlighting the importance of addressing specific socioeconomic determinants in recognition and management, although further research is ...

Localising enzymes to biomolecular condensates increases their accumulation and benefits engineered metabolic pathway performance in Nicotiana benthamiana

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary The establishment of Nicotiana benthamiana as a robust biofactory is complicated by issues such as product toxicity and proteolytic degradation of target proteins/introduced enzymes. Here we investigate whether biomolecular condensates can be used to address these problems. We engineered biomolecular condensates in N.

Heterologous Production of Forskolin in Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) via Glandular Trichome Specific Engineering and Metabolic Flux Redirection

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plants are promising bioreactor for the sustainable and scalable production of high‐value natural bioactive compounds, because they can synthesise phytochemicals from CO2, light, water and minerals through their innate photosynthetic carbon assimilation machinery.
