The Addiction Neurocircuitry and Resting‐State Functional Connectivity in Cannabis Use Disorder: An fMRI Study

open access: yesAddiction Biology, Volume 30, Issue 12, December 2025.
Resting‐state functional connectivity was compared between 65 individuals with moderate‐to‐severe cannabis use disorder (CUD) and 42 controls. The CUD group showed greater rsFC between reward‐ and habit‐related regions (nucleus accumbens, putamen, pallidum) and occipito‐parietal areas involved in salience and disinhibition.

Age‐Dependent Differences in Cerebellar CB1 Receptor Expression and Its Association With Impulsivity and Alcohol Intake in Rats

open access: yesAddiction Biology, Volume 30, Issue 12, December 2025.
Adolescent rats exhibited significantly higher levels of impulsivity compared to their adult and aged counterparts, and only adolescents developed alcohol‐conditioned place preference. CB1R expression in Crus II was notably higher in adolescents, which correlated with major impulsive behaviour.

Rare but relevant: Cannabis use and myocardial infarction

open access: yesAddiction, Volume 120, Issue 12, Page 2580-2584, December 2025.
Abstract Pre‐clinical research and case reports have linked cannabis use to myocardial infarction (MI) since the 1970s. The association with MI may be specific to certain types and patterns of cannabis use as well as certain consumer characteristics; however, due to limited data availability, meta‐analyses examining the association between cannabis use

Counterfeit ‘Xanax®’ tablets: A comparative study of clinical and seizure data in Victoria, Australia

open access: yesAddiction, Volume 120, Issue 12, Page 2465-2475, December 2025.
Abstract Background and aim There is growing evidence of counterfeit benzodiazepine products containing other substances, including non‐regulated benzodiazepine‐type new psychoactive substances (NPSs). Vaping and Smoking in Pregnancy—A Meta‐Analysis of Neurobehavioural Development in Prenatally Exposed Offspring

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, Volume 114, Issue 12, Page 3108-3121, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim Electronic cigarette usage has become increasingly popular in recent years, advertised as a safe alternative to smoking. However, the long‐term impact on prenatal development is not well understood. The aim of this systematic review and meta‐analysis is to investigate the impact of prenatal electronic cigarette exposure on self‐regulation ...

Naringin Alleviates Autistic‐Like Behaviors in BTBR Mice Through Cannabinoid Receptor Type 1‐Mediated Restoration of Hippocampal Neurogenesis

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 31, Issue 12, December 2025.
Naringin treatment can alleviate core symptoms associated with ASD, leading to improved sociability, correction of social cognition deficits, and reduced repetitive stereotypical behaviors. In terms of specific mechanisms, naringin promotes hippocampal neurogenesis by inhibiting retrograde endocannabinoid signaling, which is achieved by reducing CB1 ...
