Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

On the Capacity of Block Multiantenna Channels
In this paper we consider point-to-point multiantenna channels with certain block distributional symmetries which do not require the entries of the channel matrix to be either Gaussian, or independent, or identically distributed. A main contribution is a

Strategic Capacity Withholding by Energy Storage in Electricity Markets [PDF]
: Although previous work has demonstrated the ability of large energy storage (ES) units to exercise market power by withholding their capacity, it has adopted modeling approaches exhibiting certain limitations and has not analyzed the dependency of the ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

On the Capacity of the Wiener Phase-Noise Channel: Bounds and Capacity Achieving Distributions
In this paper, the capacity of the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel, affected by time-varying Wiener phase noise is investigated. Tight upper and lower bounds on the capacity of this channel are developed. The upper bound is obtained by using

Optimal problem for mixed $p$-capacities
The authors consider the optimal problem for mixed \(p\)-capacities: they introduce the Orlicz and \(L_q\) geominimal \(p\)-capacities and study their properties, such as invariance under orthogonal matrices, isoperimetric type inequalities and cyclic type inequalities.

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Asymmetric Loss Functions for Contract Capacity Optimization
For high-voltage and extra-high-voltage consumers, the electricity cost depends not only on the power consumed but also on the contract capacity. For the same amount of power consumed, the smaller the difference between the contract capacity and the ...
