The fabrication of patterned transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD)/graphene heterostructures via direct laser writing reveals new interface chemistry and enables efficient, customizable assembly. Selective laser irradiation of functionalized TMD/graphene triggers localized reactions, forming chemically modified interfaces.

Theoretical Study of Comb-Polymers Adsorption on Solid Surfaces [PDF]
We propose a theoretical investigation of the physical adsorption of neutral comb-polymers with an adsorbing skeleton and non-adsorbing side-chains on a flat surface. Such polymers are particularly interesting as "dynamic coating" matrices for bio-separations, especially for DNA sequencing, capillary electrophoresis and lab-on-chips.

Oct4‐nanoscript, a biomimetic nanoparticle‐based artificial transcription factor, precisely regulates cellular rejuvenation by activating Oct4 target genes, restoring epigenetic marks, and reducing DNA damage. In a progeria model, it effectively rescued aging‐associated pathologies and extended lifespan.

Electromigration dispersion in a capillary in the presence of electro-osmotic flow [PDF]
The differential migration of ions in an applied electric field is the basis for separation of chemical species by capillary electrophoresis. Axial diffusion of the concentration peak limits the separation efficiency. Electromigration dispersion is observed when the concentration of sample ions is comparable to that of the background ions.

Rapid quantification of DNA methylation through dNMP analysis following bisulfite-PCR [PDF]
We report a novel method for rapid quantification of the degree of DNA methylation of a specific gene. Our method combined bisulfite-mediated PCR and quantification of deoxyribonucleoside monophosphate (dNMP) contents in the PCR product through capillary

Helicobacter pylori gastric infection is widespread and recurrency is common, fuelled by bacterial resistance to antibiotics. Therefore, specific and noninducing resistance alternative treatments are an urgent need. Taking advantage of this gastric pathogen auxotrophy for cholesterol, a “trojan horse” strategy for H.

Microfluidics Development at Berkeley [PDF]
Richard A. Mathies is professor emeritus of Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley. In this contribution he summarizes his journey through microfluidics over the past 30 years from the invention of Capillary Array Electrophoresis in the 1990s to recent attempts to launch a microfluidic system into space.

Development of novel chiral capillary electrophoresis methods for the serotonin receptor (5-HT2A) antagonist MDL 100,907 (volinanserin) and for its key intermediate compound [PDF]
Enantioselective capillary electrophoretic methods were elaborated for the determination of the enantiomeric purity of (R)-MDL 100,907 and its preparatively resolved key intermediate compound during the synthesis route. The pKa values of the intermediate

Polyelectrolytes in electric fields: Measuring the dynamical effective charge and effective friction [PDF]
We use a coarse-grained molecular dynamics model to study the electrophoretic behaviour of flexible polyelectrolyte chains. We first characterize the static properties of the model with respect to the chain length, the polyelectrolyte concentration, additional salt and the influence of an applied external field.
