Expression and evaluation of recombinant P32 protein based ELISA for sero-diagnostic potential of capripox in sheep and goats

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Probes, 2018
The study is aimed to develop and evaluate a recombinant P32 protein based ELISA for sero-monitoring and sero-surveillance using known and random/suspected serum samples for capripox infections from sheep and goats. Truncated P32 gene of goatpox virus (with an ORF of 750 bp) was expressed in E.

Lumpy skin disease, an African capripox virus disease of cattle

British Veterinary Journal, 1991
Lumpy skin disease is an infectious viral disease of cattle, which often occurs in epizootic form. The disease is characterized by the eruption of nodules in the skin, which may cover the whole of the animal's body. Systemic effects include pyrexia, anorexia, dysgalactia and pneumonia; lesions are often found in the mouth and upper respiratory tract ...

Capripox disease in Ethiopia: Genetic differences between field isolates and vaccine strain, and implications for vaccination failure

Antiviral Research, 2015
Sheeppox virus (SPPV), goatpox virus (GTPV) and lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV) of the genus Capripoxvirus (CaPV) cause capripox disease in sheep, goats and cattle, respectively. These viruses are not strictly host-specific and their geographical distribution is complex.

TaqMan based real-time duplex PCR for simultaneous detection and quantitation of capripox and orf virus genomes in clinical samples

Journal of Virological Methods, 2014
A rapid and sensitive TaqMan based real-time duplex PCR (drt-PCR) assay for simultaneous detection, differentiation and quantitation of Capripoxvirus (CaPV) and Orf virus (ORFV) DNA, was optimized targeting the highly conserved DNA polymerase genes of these virus genomes.

Relationships of capripox viruses found in Kenya with two Middle Eastern strains and some orthopox viruses

Research in Veterinary Science, 1981
The viruses of lumpy skin disease and Kenya sheep and goat pox proved to be identical, by direct and indirect fluorescent antibody and serum neutralisation tests, with sheep pox and goat pox virus strains from the Middle East. All these viruses showed a distant relationship with cow pox virus by the fluorescent antibody methods but not by ...

Genetic diversity of fusion gene (ORF 117), an analogue of vaccinia virus A27L gene of capripox virus isolates

Virus Genes, 2015
The fusion gene (ORF 117) sequences of twelve (n = 12) capripox virus isolates namely sheeppox (SPPV) and goatpox (GTPV) viruses from India were demonstrated for their genetic and phylogenetic relationship among them. All the isolates were confirmed for their identity by routine PCR before targeting ORF 117 gene for sequence analysis.

Experimental study of a mixed vaccine against peste des petits ruminants and capripox infection in goats in northern Cameroon [PDF]

open access: possibleSmall Ruminant Research, 1997
Abstract A mixed vaccine against peste des petits ruminants (PPR) and capripox infection was investigated in northern Cameroon. The vaccine strains were the attenuated PPRV 75/1 strain for PPR and the RM 65 strain for Capripox disease. 25 goats were vaccinated with different doses of the vaccine to study the seroconversion.
