Angiotensin I‐converting enzyme (ACE) contains two catalytic domains (nACE and cACE) and is a key therapeutic target for hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Current ACE inhibitors (ACEi) nonselectively inhibit both domains, causing adverse effects. Selective inhibition requires an understanding of domain‐specific binding.

Salen Mn Complexes Mitigate Radiation Injury in Normal Tissues [PDF]
Salen Mn complexes, including EUK-134, EUK-189 and a newer cyclized analog EUK-207, are synthetic SOD/catalase mimetics that have beneficial effects in many models of oxidative stress.

Losartan partially reversed serum metabolomic aging signatures in both aged mice and pre‐frail older men, and this effect required functional angiotensin II receptors in mice. Cross‐species analyses suggest aging shifts circulating metabolites in opposite directions in mice versus humans, particularly among lipids, with losartan partially normalizing ...

Practical Spectrophotometric Assay for the \u3cem\u3edapE\u3c/em\u3e-Encoded \u3cem\u3eN\u3c/em\u3e-Succinyl-L,L-Diaminopimelic Acid Desuccinylase, a Potential Antibiotic Target [PDF]
A new enzymatic assay for the bacterial enzyme succinyl-diaminopimelate desuccinylase (DapE, E.C. 3.5.1.18) is described. This assay employs N6-methyl-N2-succinyl-L,L-diaminopimelic acid (N6-methyl-L,L-SDAP) as the substrate with ninhydrin used to detect

Effect of short time captopril administration on spatial memory in aging rats [PDF]
Introduction: The brain renin-angiotensin system (RAS) has been reported having a pathological role in age-related impairment in learning and memory. Therefore, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) are expected to have positive ef fects on ...

Hypertensive Urgency and Pulmonary Infiltrates: A Report of Three Cases
ABSTRACT Hypertensive urgency is commonly attributed to medication nonadherence, progression of essential hypertension, or secondary causes. However, in some patients, no clear precipitating factor is identified, despite repeated evaluations and the absence of target organ damage. Subclinical inflammatory conditions have been hypothesized as potential,
