Multianticipative Piecewise-Linear Car-Following Model [PDF]

open access: yesTransportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2012
An extension of the piecewise-linear car-following model to multianticipative driving is proposed. As in the one-car-anticipative model, the stability and the stationary regimes are characterized through a variational formulation of the car dynamics.

Comparison of car-following models

open access: yes, 2004
Traffic simulation is an often used tool in the study of traffic systems. A traffic simulation model consists of several sub-models; each handles one specific task in the simulation. These sub-models include, among others, car-following. This model controls the interactions with the preceding vehicle in the same lane.

FollowNet: A Comprehensive Benchmark for Car-Following Behavior Modeling

open access: yesScientific Data, 2023
Car-following is a control process in which a following vehicle adjusts its acceleration to keep a safe distance from the lead vehicle. Recently, there has been a booming of data-driven models that enable more accurate modeling of car-following through ...

Assessing the Impacts of Autonomous Vehicles on Road Congestion Using Microsimulation

open access: yesSensors, 2022
The introduction of autonomous vehicles has been considered as a possible option for reducing traffic congestion in many transport studies. Many types of models, in particular car-following microsimulation models have been adopted in most studies.

The Space-Based Car-Following Model: Development and Application for Managed Motorway System Safety Evaluation

open access: yesFuture Transportation, 2021
Traffic safety studies need more than what the current micro-simulation models can provide, as they presume that all drivers exhibit safe behaviors. Therefore, existing micro-simulation models are inadequate to evaluate the safety impacts of managed ...

Bayesian Calibration of Car-Following Models

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2009
Abstract Recent research has revealed that there exist large inter-driver differences in car-following behavior such that different car-following models may apply to different drivers. This study applies Bayesian techniques to the calibration of car-following models, where prior distributions on each model parameter are converted to posterior ...

Exploring Microscopic Characteristics of Bicycle Riders’ following Behaviors in a Single-File Movement

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Cycling can bring a wide range of social, economic, and health benefits to individuals and communities. The safety and efficiency of bicycle facilities can be significantly impacted by the interactions among riders.

The Car-Following Model and Its Applications in the V2X Environment: A Historical Review

open access: yesFuture Internet, 2021
The application of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology has resulted in the traffic environment being different from how it was in the past. In the V2X environment, the information perception ability of the driver–vehicle unit is greatly enhanced. With

Modeling for Micro Traffic Flow with the Consideration of Lateral Vehicle’s Influence

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2020
In order to make the car-following model describe the driving behavior of vehicle on urban road more accurately, existing car-following models are simulated using measured traffic data. According to the analysis of the simulation result, two new improved

Modelling of Driver and Pedestrian Behaviour – A Historical Review

open access: yesPromet (Zagreb), 2020
Driver and pedestrian behaviour significantly affect the safety and the flow of traffic at the microscopic and macroscopic levels. The driver behaviour models describe the driver decisions made in different traffic flow conditions.
