Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Silver(I) Ions Ultrasensitive Detection at Carbon Electrodes―Analysis of Waters, Tobacco Cells and Fish Tissues

open access: yesSensors, 2009
We used carbon paste electrodes and a standard potentiostat to detect silver ions. The detection limit (3 Signal/Noise ratio) was estimated as 0.5 μM. A standard electrochemical instrument microanalysis of silver(I) ions was suggested.

Carbon multicharged ion generation from laser-spark ion source

open access: yesReview of Scientific Instruments, 2019
Multicharged carbon ions are generated by using a laser-assisted spark-discharge ion source. A Q-switched Nd:YAG laser pulse (1064 nm, 7 ns, ≤ 4.5 × 109 W/cm2) focused onto the surface of a glassy carbon target results in its ablation. The spark-discharge (∼1.2 J energy, ∼1 µs duration) is initiated along the direction of the plume propagation between ...

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Inhibition of Phosphoglycerate Kinase 1 Enhances Radiosensitivity of Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma to X-rays and Carbon Ion Irradiation

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience-Landmark
Background: Radiotherapy is crucial for managing esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). This research explored the potential and mechanism of enhancing ESCC radiosensitivity through targeting phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1).

Diamondlike flakes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
A carbon coating was vacuum arc deposited on a smooth surface of a target which was simultaneously ion beam sputtered. The bombarding ions have sufficient energy to create diamond bonds. Spalling occurs as the carbon deposit thickens.

The Mechanism of Adsorption of Rh(III) Bromide Complex Ions on Activated Carbon

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
In the paper, the mechanism of the process of the Rh(III) ions adsorption on activated carbon ORGANOSORB 10—AA was investigated. It was shown, that the process is reversible, i.e., stripping of Rh(III) ions from activated carbon to the solution is also ...
