Carborane polymers. III. Vinyl carboranes

Journal of Polymer Science Part A: General Papers, 1965
AbstractIsopropenylcarborane could not be polymerized by conventional radical and ionic methods. A low molecular weight polymer of DP = 10 was obtained by the use of aluminum chloride as catalyst at 150–170°C. Carboranylmethyl acrylate was homopolymerized and copolymerized with fluoroacrylates by using benzoyl peroxide as catalyst.

Carborane

The Mechanochemistry of Carboranes

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2022
AbstractWe developed o‐carborane as a new mechanophore by showing that the o‐carborane cluster is the preferred scission site in chain‐centered polymers through ultrasonication mechanochemistry. Mechanistic studies are consistent with a predominately homolytic mechanism of chain scission.

CARBORANES AND METALLOCARBORANES*

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1974
Abstract : One of the most significant developments in modern boron chemistry was the discovery of the carboranes. The substitution of CH(3+) vertices for BH(2+) units in boron hydride polyhedra opened up an entire new field of chemical endeavor.
