Engineered Peptides‐Based Hybrid‐Nested Microneedle Effectively Treat Biofilm‐Infected Diabetic Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid‐nested microneedle/cryogel scaffold (MQW‐CMg‐MOF) is designed for efficient biofilm removal and accelerated healing of diabetic wounds. The scaffold shows substantial biofilm removal in vitro and in a preclinical diabetic swine biofilm‐infected wound model compared to the control.

Photothermal Hydrogel with Mn3O4 Nanoparticles Alleviates Intervertebral Disc Degeneration by Scavenging ROS and Regulating Extracellular Matrix Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The MPTT‐nanozyme‐hydrogel system (Mn3O4@ChS‐HA) provides a multifunctional therapeutic strategy for intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), effectively targeting oxidative stress and enhancing AF repair by restoring extracellular matrix (ECM) and redox homeostasis.

A facile and chemoselectivity in synthesis of 4-chloro-N-(4-((1-hydroxy-2-methylpropan-2-yl)oxy)phenethyl)benzamide, the alcohol derivative of Bezafibrate

open access: yesResults in Chemistry, 2022
A facile method for the reduction of carboxylic acid group of Bezafibrate, an approved drug, is described. The selective reduction of carboxylic acid group to corresponding alcohol was carried out by activation of the carboxylic acid moiety via mixed ...

Ab initio study of the mechanism of carboxylic acids cross-ketonization on monoclinic zirconia via condensation to beta-keto acids followed by decarboxylation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Catalytic mechanism of acetic and isobutyric acids mixture conversion into two symmetrical and one cross-ketone product on monoclinic zirconia (111) surface was extensively modeled by Density Functional Theory for periodic structures.

1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) in plants: more than just the precursor of ethylene!

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2014
Ethylene is a simple two carbon atom molecule with profound effects on plants. There are quite a few review papers covering all aspects of ethylene biology in plants, including its biosynthesis, signaling and physiology.

Designing of Self‐Dispersing Soft Dendritic Microcleaners for Microplastics Capture and Recovery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The capture and recovery of microplastics from open aquatic systems is a complex problem, which necessitates nontrivial solutions. The principles of a comprehensive multistage process based on sustainably sourced microcleaners with hierarchical morphology are demonstrated.

pH-Responsive Non-Ionic Diblock Copolymers: Ionization of Carboxylic Acid End-Groups Induces an Order–Order Morphological Transition

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, 2014
A carboxylic acid based reversible additionfragmentation transfer (RAFT) agent is used to prepare gels composed of worm-like diblock copolymers using two non-ionic monomers, glycerol monomethacrylate (GMA) and 2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate (HPMA ...
