Beginning with a single step: A social theory of change for managing chronic wasting disease
Following opinions of chronic wasting disease management experts, we identified and prioritized critical interventions to address the disease. We developed a theory of change for the most prioritized intervention that supports the implementation of engagement or social marketing strategies to increase support for management.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ATTRIBUTES OF BEEF CATTLE RAISED USING ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGY AND PRICES RECEIVED AT THE PACKERS: A HEDONIC PRICE ANALYSIS [PDF]
Sluggish growth in per capita consumption and a downward pressure on beef price at the farm level has required producers to raise cattle that precisely target the meat attributes desired by consumers.

Comparison of Objective External Carcass Measurements and Subjective Conformation Scores for Prediction of Lamb Carcass Quality [PDF]
Carcass measurements were collected from 1505 lambs over a 2-yr period by a single technician. The lambs (rams, ewes and wethers) were classified as either meat-type or wool-type, with meat-type subdivided by frame size into light, medium or large ...

Fine‐scale population variables better explain roadkill patterns in natterjack toads (Epidalea calamita) than habitat proxies, with mortality driven mainly by local abundance, reduced by roadside embankments, and decreasing as the season advanced. Despite high roadkills, population viability analyses indicate no immediate extinction risk under current ...

A hedonic model of lamb carcass attributes [PDF]
Lamb carcass value is widely reported to be a function of lean meat yield, which is the relationship between muscle, fat and bone. Five retailers and five wholesalers assessed 47 lamb carcasses from diverse genotypes and scored seven attributes.

Northern bobwhites associated with native grass and shrubs have improved survival
Survival rates of adult northern bobwhites were improved by a combination of grazed native warm‐season grasses and well‐interspersed shrubs. Our study suggests that incorporating native warm‐season grass cattle forages into existing operations across the southeastern United States may be a viable working‐lands conservation strategy to create habitat ...

STEER AND HEIFER PRICE DIFFERENCES IN THE LIVE CATTLE AND CARCASS MARKETS [PDF]
A dynamic model is used to estimate quarterly price differences between steers and heifers in the feeder, slaughter, and carcass markets. For cattle within the same weight and grade range, their price differences are hypothesized to be influenced by ...

Climatic conditions shape phenotypic evolution by driving adaptations that optimise organismal function. Invasive species provide valuable systems to study these processes, as they often encounter novel climatic conditions in their introduced ranges. The European rabbit Oryctolagus cuniculus, native to the Iberian Peninsula, has established populations

INTERTEMPORAL PRICE ADJUSTMENTS IN THE BEEF MARKET: A REDUCED FORM ANALYSIS OF WEEKLY DATA [PDF]
An intertemporal reduced form model is estimated for boxed beef, carcass, and slaughter prices on a weekly basis. The results indicate that prices respond jointly to changes in economic information within weeks t and t – 1, supporting time-series ...

Relationships between lamb carcass quality traits measured by X-ray computed tomography (CT) and current UK-hill sheep breeding goals. [PDF]
Genetic parameters were estimated between current UK hill sheep breeding goals and lamb carcass composition and muscularity traits derived using X-ray computed tomography (CT).
