Keel Bone Damage in Commercial Laying Hen Hybrids

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 5, September 2025.
This work reviews the influence of production systems, strain and age of laying hens on keel bone damages (KBDs) with the subsequent welfare implications and production losses. Damages to the keel bone are influenced to a greater extent by the type of production system and its complexity.

Pharmacological Targeting of Hyperpolarization‐Activated Cyclic Nucleotide‐Gated Cation Channels on Bladder Afferent Sensory Transmission

open access: yesLUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms, Volume 17, Issue 5, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to investigate the potential role of cesium chloride (CsCl), ivabradine (IVA), and isoproterenol (ISO) on the sensory transmission of bladder afferents to graded urinary bladder distension (UBD). We specifically selected these drugs to target the hyperpolarization‐activated cyclic nucleotide‐gated (HCN) cation ...

The Disease Burden in Fish Farm Management: An Integrative View and a Specific Vision in Europe

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 17, Issue 4, September 2025.
ABSTRACT In aquaculture, the interactions and balance—or imbalance—between the fish, the rearing environment, pathogens, and farm management determine the occurrence and impact of clinical diseases. The global assessment of the factors related to disease impact is commonly referred to as disease burden.

A Review of Seriola lalandi Aquaculture With a Focus on Recirculating Aquaculture Systems: Synthesis of Existing Research and Emerging Challenges

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 17, Issue 4, September 2025.
ABSTRACT This review presents a comprehensive synthesis of research on yellowtail kingfish (Seriola lalandi) aquaculture, with a particular focus on production in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS). Significant progress has been made in reproductive biology and captive spawning, which are critical for ensuring a reliable juvenile supply.
