Cervical Small Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma Initially Detected on Cytology: Diagnostic Pitfalls and Clues

open access: yesCytopathology, EarlyView.
This case describes the initial detection of cervical small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma on conventional endometrial and cervicovaginal liquid‐based cytology. Given its rarity and high aggressiveness, early recognition and rapid, intensive treatment are crucial for improving patient outcomes.

Advances and Challenges in the Multidisciplinary Treatment of Retroperitoneal Infantile Fibrosarcoma in Early Life

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Retroperitoneal Infantile Fibrosarcoma (RIFS) is a rare, locally aggressive pediatric soft tissue tumor. Its retroperitoneal location poses challenges due to proximity and potential invasion of critical structures such as the inferior vena cava (IVC).

Dynamics of the CD9 interactome during bacterial infection of epithelial cells by proximity labelling proteomics

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
We describe the CD9 interactome in epithelial cells for the first time. The interactome is diverse and dynamic and changes dependent on infection with specific bacteria. We validate these data by showing functional interaction between CD9 with CD44 or CD147. We therefore demonstrate that CD9 is a universal organiser of bacterial adhesion platforms able

VEGF‐Positive Mass‐Forming Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma: New Subtype Based on Radiological and Molecular Pathological Analysis

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
Radiological and molecular pathological investigation of hypervascular intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, typically a hypovascular tumor, revealed high VEGF expression, an increase in tumor‐associated arterial vessels, and a strong correlation with favorable prognosis.

Initial Site of Metastasis Influences Prognosis in Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (mPDAC) is a highly aggressive malignancy. Prior studies suggest that the initial site of metastasis may impact prognosis. This study investigates whether overall survival in mPDAC patients differs between patients first presenting with lung metastases versus those presenting with liver ...

A Rare Case of Disseminated Extrapulmonary Tuberculosis Diagnosed by Endoscopic Ultrasonography‐Guided Fine‐Needle Biopsy: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Abdominal tuberculosis (TB) is uncommon in Taiwan and frequently mimics malignancy or other infectious diseases due to nonspecific clinical manifestations, often leading to delayed diagnosis. We report a 72‐year‐old man who presented with fever, anorexia, weight loss, and epigastric discomfort.

Rectal metastasis from lung cancer diagnosed by endoscopic ultrasound‐guided fine needle biopsy: A case report

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
Abstract A 73‐year‐old man visited our hospital due to hyperintestinal peristalsis and diarrhea. He had been undergoing regular annual checkups for dust lung disease. Contrast‐enhanced computed tomography scan showed edematous thickening of the rectal wall with contrast effect.

Diagnosis and treatment of gastric abscess by endoscopic ultrasound: A mini‐review of the preliminary application

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
Abstract Gastric abscess is a rare condition caused by gastric barrier damage. It is easily misdiagnosed in clinical practice as a cancer recurrence or submucosal tumor, especially after surgery or endoscopic submucosal dissection. With a relatively high mortality rate, the cause and clinical characteristics of gastric abscesses are obscure.

Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumor Leading to a Diagnosis of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms are rare but occasionally encountered. They are generally highly vascularized solid tumors, often round in shape with clear boundaries, defined contours, and a homogeneous internal structure. However, they can also present with atypical features, such as cystic degeneration, hemorrhage, calcification, and ...
