Adjuvant and Neoadjuvant Radiochemotherapy in Ductal Pancreatic Carcinoma

Strahlentherapie und Onkologie, 2000
Ductal pancreatic carcinoma ranks third among malignancies of the gastrointestinal tract and its incidence is rising. Today, patients with this disease still have fatal prognosis necessitating efforts towards more effective treatment. This report provides a review of adjuvant and neoadjuvant radiotherapy in pancreatic carcinoma without distant ...

Pancreatic Microcystic Adenoma Coexistent with Pancreatic Ductal Carcinoma

The American Journal of Surgical Pathology, 1990
We report two cases of microcystic (glycogen-rich) adenoma of the pancreas with coexistent pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Both patients presented with an epigastric mass. On laparotomy, each had two separate pancreatic tumors. The benign tumors were composed of small cysts with a flattened to cuboidal glycogen-rich epithelium.

BRANCH DUCT ORIGIN OF SOLID TYPE PANCREATIC DUCTAL CARCINOMA

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery, 1993
A case of branch duct origin of solid type pancreatic ductal carcinoma is presented. Stepwise tissue sections of an entire specimen, including the carcinoma area, and mapping, with special reference to the relationship between the main duct and the carcinoma area, were performed. Carcinoma cells of the branch duct showed intraductal spread with minimal

Retroviral expression screening of oncogenes in pancreatic ductal carcinoma

European Journal of Cancer, 2005
Pancreatic ductal carcinoma (PDC) remains one of the most intractable malignancies in humans. In order to clarify the molecular events underlying the carcinogenesis in PDC, we constructed a retroviral cDNA expression library from a PDC cell line, and used it to screen transforming genes in PDC by a focus formation assay with mouse 3T3 fibroblasts.

Mixed ductal–pancreatic polypeptide‐cell carcinoma of the pancreas

Histopathology, 2002
Mixed ductal–pancreatic polypeptide‐cell carcinoma of the pancreasAims:  Mixed ductal‐endocrine carcinomas of the pancreas are rare tumours with 10 cases reported in the English literature. We report the first case with a polypeptide‐cell component. Methods and results:  The tumour was fortuitouslydiscovered in a 72‐year‐old woman during the exploration

Surgical treatment of ductal pancreatic carcinoma.

European journal of surgical oncology : the journal of the European Society of Surgical Oncology and the British Association of Surgical Oncology, 1991
Among 587 patients with ductal pancreatic carcinoma who were examined between 1969 and 1987, 260 (44.3%) had distant metastases at the time of diagnosis. Tumour resections, mostly subtotal duodenopancreatectomies, were performed in 138 patients (23.5% of all patients, or 39.8% of all patients without distant metastases); in 91 patients the resection ...

Centrosome abnormalities in pancreatic ductal carcinoma.

Clinical cancer research : an official journal of the American Association for Cancer Research, 1999
The centrosome plays an important role in microtubule nucleation and organization, ensuring the establishment of cell polarity and balanced chromosome segregation. Recent studies have suggested that the loss of cell polarity and/or chromosome missegregation (aneuploidy) in human malignant tumors could result from defects in centrosome function.

Pen2/ErbB4 signaling regulates stemness of pancreatic ductal carcinoma

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Basis of Disease
Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are critical for progression, invasion, metastasis, and chemotherapy resistance of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Presenilin enhancer 2 (Pen2), a vital component of the gamma-secretase complex, is overexpressed in various cancers and plays a significant role in carcinogenesis.

Pancreatic metastases from ductal and lobular carcinomas of the breast

Clinical and Translational Oncology, 2007
The pancreas is an uncommon target for metastases from other primary tumours. We discuss clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of pancreatic metastases through presentation of two surgically treated cases of metastases originating from breast cancer.

[On the subject of pancreatic ductal carcinoma].

La Clinica terapeutica, 1999
Pancreatic cancer is a dismal disease. The 5-year overall survival ranges from 1% to 5%. Surgery is the only curative treatment available for this cancer, but it is indicated only in selected patients with a less than 4 cm tumor. In these patients, survival rate is about 30%.
