The expression of RNA-binding protein RBM38 decreased in renal cell carcinoma and represses renal cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
RBM38, a member of RNA recognition motif family of RNA-binding proteins, can regulate the expression of diverse targets by influencing their messenger RNA stability and play a vital role in cancer development.

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Double renal cell carcinoma with histological type of clear cell carcinoma and papillary carcinoma in the same kidney concurrently treated with robot‐assisted partial nephrectomy

open access: yesIJU Case Reports, 2022
Introduction The presence of two different histologic types of renal cell carcinoma in the same kidney is rare in clinical practice. This report describes a patient with ipsilateral renal cell carcinomas, consisting of a clear cell renal cell carcinoma ...

Plasma N-Terminal Pro-Brain Natriuretic Peptide as Prognostic Marker in Fatal Cardial Decompensation with Sunitinib Malate Therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A 74-year-old man with metastatic renal cell carcinoma and a history of cardiac failure was treated with sunitinib malate. MUGA echocardiography could not detect a relevant change in the ejection fraction although the clinical situation of the patient ...

Prognostic value of IKBIP in papillary renal cell carcinoma

open access: yesBMC Urology, 2023
Background I kappa B kinase interacting protein, a highly conserved gene, has rarely been reported in cancer. According to previous study, IKBIP has only been shown to promote malignant progression of glioma.

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

Transient down-regulation of beta1 integrin subtypes on kidney carcinoma cells is induced by mechanical contact with endothelial cell membranes

open access: yes, 2007
Adhesion molecules of the integrin beta1 family are thought to be involved in the malignant progression renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Still, it is not clear how they contribute to this process.

Thyroid-like Follicular Renal Cell Carcinoma: An Emerging Entity

open access: yesArchives of Medicine and Health Sciences
Thyroid-like follicular renal cell carcinoma is an extremely rare tumor. The tumors show a striking resemblance to well-differentiated thyroid follicular neoplasm but can be differentiated on immunohistochemistry due to lack of thyroglobulin and thyroid ...
