How Cardiac Embryology Translates into Clinical Arrhythmias
The electrophysiological signatures of the myocardium in cardiac structures, such as the atrioventricular node, pulmonary veins or the right ventricular outflow tract, are established during development by the spatial and temporal expression of ...

The Gut–Heart Axis in Systemic Sclerosis: Evidence From a Large Prospective Early Disease Cohort
Objective Cardiac involvement significantly impacts prognosis in systemic sclerosis (SSc), highlighting the need for early risk stratification. Gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms are common and often manifest early. Emerging data suggest a link between GI and cardiac manifestations, possibly through shared mechanisms like dysautonomia.

Asystolie in überraschendem Zusammenhang [PDF]
Asystole in a surprising context: A previously healthy 37-year-old patient was admitted to our hospital for evaluation of syncope. Continuous ECG monitoring revealed repeated asystoles with a duration of up to 25 seconds.

Mechanical and Electrical Phenotype of hiPSC‐Cardiomyocytes on Fibronectin‐Based Hydrogels
We introduce fibronectin‐based PEG hydrogels with controlled rigidity to enable the culture of iPSC‐derived cardiomyocytes. These substrates offer an alternative to the current culture of these cells on fibronectin‐coated glass, providing enhanced structural and functional behavior. The system provides a more physiologically relevant platform to assess

All patients operated for oesophageal cancer in Sweden from 2013 to April 2018 were identified, and 246 patients were recruited to this population‐based nationwide Swedish study. The results show that longitudinal health‐related quality of life after minimally invasive oesophagectomy was similar to that of the open surgical approach.

Autoantibodies and Cardiac Arrhythmias [PDF]
Autoimmune diseases are associated with significant morbidity and mortality, afflicting about 5% of the US population. They encompass a wide range of disorders that affect all organs of the human body and have a predilection for women. In the past, autoimmune pathogenesis was not thought to be a major mechanism for cardiovascular disorders, and ...

This review examines how cellular behavior is regulated by mechanical cues transmitted through soft biomaterials, from single‐cell mechanosensing to tissue‐level adaptation. It highlights why physiological relevance, rather than model complexity alone, is critical for translational mechanobiology and introduces a scoring framework linking material ...
