Cardiac troponin-T in acute pericarditis

Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine, 2014
The long-term outcome of acute pericarditis with high cardiac troponin-T (cTnT) is unknown. Our purpose was to investigate the prognostic and clinical value of cTnT in myopericardial inflammatory syndromes.Between January 2001 and September 2011, 107 patients hospitalized for acute pericarditis or myopericarditis were enrolled.

Haemodialysis patients longitudinally assessed by highly sensitive cardiac troponin T and commercial cardiac troponin T and cardiac troponin I assays

Annals of Clinical Biochemistry: International Journal of Laboratory Medicine, 2009
Background Elevated cardiac troponin (cTn) concentrations predict an increased mortality in patients suffering from end-stage renal disease (ESRD). This study compares the performance of a precommercial high-sensitive cTnT assay (hs-cTnT) with two contemporary cTn assays in detecting cTn elevations in ESRD ...

High-sensitivity cardiac troponin assays for cardiovascular risk stratification in the general population.

European Heart Journal, 2020
Cardiac troponins (cTns) I and T have long been the most successful cardiac-specific circulating biomarkers in cardiovascular (CV) medicine, having changed dramatically the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction, while being independent predictors of ...

Cardiac troponin T in forensic autopsy cases

Forensic Science International, 2013
The aim of the present study was to describe the findings of postmortem serum and pericardial fluid (PF) cardiac troponin T (cTnT) in various causes of death with regard to the postmortem interval (PMI) and comorbid cardiovascular disease, using 101 autopsy cases with PMI of 8-141 h divided into 9 groups: cardiovascular disease (CVD), other diseases ...

Circulating Cardiac Troponin T in Myocardial Contusion

Chest, 1997
Myocardial contusion may induce life-threatening complications, but its diagnosis is difficult. Circulating cardiac troponin T is considered a highly sensitive and specific marker of myocardial cell injury. We investigate the value of cardiac troponin T measurement in the diagnosis of myocardial contusion.Prospective study.Level 1 trauma center. We ...

Cardiac Troponin T in Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Chest, 2004
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with nocturnal angina and ST-segment depression, which are relieved by treatment with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). We tested the hypothesis that severe nocturnal hypoxia in patients with OSA causes myocyte necrosis as evidenced by increases in cardiac troponin T.Prospective cohort study ...

Structure-function relationships in cardiac troponin T

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure and Molecular Enzymology, 1989
Regions of rabbit and bovine cardiac troponin T that are involved in binding tropomyosin, troponin C and troponin I have been identified. Two sites of contact for tropomyosin have been located, situated between residues 92-178 and 180-284 of troponin T.

Cardiac Troponin T in the Diagnosis of Myocardial Injury

Critical Reviews in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, 1992
In the last several decades serum levels of cardiac enzymes and isoenzymes have become the final arbiters by which myocardial damage is diagnosed or excluded. Because conventionally used enzymes are neither perfectly sensitive nor specific, there is need for a new sensitive and cardiospecific marker of myocardial damage.

Cardiac troponin T is not increased in patients with hypothyroidism

Internal Medicine Journal, 2009
AbstractPatients with hypothyroidism often have increased creatine kinase (CK) levels. It is possible that there is increased production of CK, but other mechanisms, such as an increased cell membrane permeability or decreased enzyme clearance were also proposed.

Comparison of the cardiac troponin I-cardiac troponin T-troponin C complex and cardiac troponin I and T in distinguishing myocardial infarction using a single sample at presentation

Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (CCLM)
Abstract Objectives The potential relationship between cardiac troponin (cTn) composition and etiologies of myocardial injury may provide diagnostic insights for myocardial infarction (MI). We compared the performance of novel ternary cTnI–cTnT–TnC complex (ITC) assays with high-sensitivity (hs)
