Bioaccumulation of mercury in some organs of two fish species from the Sanandaj Gheshlagh Reservoir, Iran [PDF]
The purpose of this study was to monitor the concentrations of mercury in the edible muscle, gill, liver, and skin of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) and silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix), in the Sanandaj Gheshlagh Reservoir, Iran.

Preliminary evidence of delayed spawning and suppressed larval growth and condition of the major carps in the Yangtze River below the Three Gorges Dam [PDF]
Commercial catches of the 'major carps' (grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella, silver carp Hypophthalmichthys molitrix, black carp Mylopharyngodon piceus and bighead carp Aristichthys nobilis) in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River have ...

Carbonic anhydrase related protein expression in astrocytomas and oligodendroglial tumors
Background Carbonic anhydrase related proteins (CARPs) VIII, X and XI functionally differ from the other carbonic anhydrase (CA) enzymes. Structurally, they lack the zinc binding residues, which are important for enzyme activity of classical CAs.

Respiratory burst in neutrophilic granulocytes of carps (Cyprinus carpio): cytometric studies
Present studies aimed at flow cytometric analysis of respiratory burst in neutrophilic granulocytes in carps, at various stages of their ontogeny. Cytometric evaluation of the repiratory burst in PMN cells of carps demonstrated augmented values of the ...

Molecular cloning of silver carp and bighead carp prolactin [PDF]
The cDNAs encoding the prolactin of silver carp (scPRL) and bighead carp (bcPRL) have been cloned. Deduced from the nucleotide sequences, both scPRL and bcPRL are composed of 187 amino acid residues. Only one residue is different between scPRL and bcPRL.
