Soft-differential decoding for demodulation without carrier phase recovery

IEEE Photonic Society 24th Annual Meeting, 2011
We demonstrate demodulation by low complexity soft-differential decoding. Combined with subsequent non-redundant error correction, the penalty compared to classical carrier recovery with hard-differential decoding is largely reduced providing an attractive low gate-count solution.

Minimum Symbol Error Rate Carrier Phase Recovery of QPSK

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2009
This paper considers the problem of phase recovery of QPSK signals with phase-locked loops (PLL) using two new phase error detectors (PEDs) which are designed to minimize the probability of making a symbol decision error. The new PEDs resemble the PED derived from the maximum likelihood criterion.

A novel QAM joint frequency-phase carrier recovery method

2006 8th International Conference Advanced Communication Technology, 2006
In this paper, we propose a novel structure of the joint frequency-phase carrier recovery loop for all-digital QAM satellite receivers. Unlike the existing methods, the initial phase offset is recovered through the utilization of a frequency recovery loop.

Carrier phase recovery issues in polyspectra-based equalizers

[Proceedings] ICASSP 91: 1991 International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1991
The sensitivity of the tricepstrum equalization algorithm (TEA) to imperfect carrier phase recovery is discussed. Structures of combined TEA-based equalization and carrier phase tracking are proposed. Performance evaluation of the proposed structures is made by means of computer simulations.

Low complexity carrier phase recovery for DVB-RCS2 standard

2012 International Conference on ICT Convergence (ICTC), 2012
This paper introduces the simplified methods to reduce phase noise effect for DVB-RCS2 standard which was recently released as the next generation satellite VSAT(Very Small Aperture Terminal) system in Ku/Ka band. The relevant work deals with both linear and CPM modulation.

Phase recovery of the coherent carrier frequency using digital phase filter

Radioelectronics and Communications Systems, 2013
This paper considers a phase recovery method for the coherent carrier frequency of the signal Revised by a digital receiver using a unit of digital recovery of the coherent carrier phase. The use of digital phase filter makes it possible to do without the application of traditional phase-locked loop frequency control.

Maximum Likelihood Carrier Phase Recovery for Linear Suppressed-Carrier Digital Data Modulations

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1986
The problem of ML estimation of the Phase of a general data-modulated carrier is considered. The shortcomings of current iterative approaches to the problem are pointed out, and the correct conceptual approach is proposed. The true ML estimator is then obtained and found to be nonimplementable.

All-Optical Carrier Phase and Polarization Recovery Using a Phase-Sensitive Oscillator

OFC/NFOEC 2007 - 2007 Conference on Optical Fiber Communication and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference, 2007
An all-optical carrier phase and polarization recovery scheme from PSK signals is proposed and demonstrated for the first time. The scheme uses a phase-sensitive optical oscillator with a phase sensitive amplifier as the gain block.

Blind Carrier Phase Recovery in Cross QAM Communication Systems

2006 International Conference on Emerging Technologies, 2006
A new method for blind phase estimation is proposed for cross QAM a communication system which uses the estimates of the sixteenth-order statistics of the received signal. Computer simulations reveal that the proposed estimator is capable of giving about the same root mean square error (RMSE) as that of Cartwright's eighth-order estimator while needing

Phase Comparator using Phase Sensitive Amplifier for Phase Noise-Tolerant Carrier Phase Recovery of QPSK Signals

2013 18th OptoElectronics and Communications Conference held jointly with 2013 International Conference on Photonics in Switching, 2013
We propose an all-optical phase comparator for phase noise-tolerant carrier phase recovery of QPSK signals. Our scheme, based on the 2nd-order phase sensitive amplifier, successfully doubled the input phase without doubling the phase noise.
